I'm pretty sure it's happened several times. In fact, I want to say a Red Sox pitcher did it a few years back, though my memory's a bit sketchy. Left out in this is that he screwed up his back on that swing and was subsequently placed on the DL.

And then we got Lohse pitching for us the next night, and he is now 1-4. Come on Lohse! Awesome bit of work from Penny though, I loved that they deliberately walked the guy before him and paid for it with a grand slam.

It's happened more than 100 times in the big leagues. Most recent I can remember is Jason Marquis with the Cubs in 2008. Other notable pitchers to hit grand slams.... Babe Ruth (before he was moved to the OF), Walter Johnson, Mel Stottlemyre, Don Larsen, Don Drysedale, Bob Gibson (did it twice), Burt Hooten, Jim Longborg, Early Wynn, Lefty Grove, Denny Neagle, Dontrelle Willis,...... So, now it's not the first time. Even a blind squirrel can find a nut every so often.
