Just found Bruiser's first Green Bay appearance, said to be his Wisconsin debut: Green Bay (Labor Temple) Sunday, January 2, 1955 - Dick Afflis beat Jack Wilson 1-Afflis won with a series of body press, body slam and pin - 17 minutes. 2-Afflis won after a piledriver - 13 minutes. Afflis appeared again the following week: Green Bay (Labor Temple) Sunday, January 9, 1955 - Mike Blazer beat Dick Afflis 1-Afflis won with a backdrop and shoulder press - 23 minutes. 2-Blazer won with a reverse full nelson - 19 minutes. 3-Afflis was disqualified for failing to break a hold (5-count) - 8:40. I'd have loved to have seen these matches. 30 minutes with Jack Wilson and 50-51 minutes against Blazer. Had to be quite different than the 10-minute bouts we saw Bruiser in during his later years.

Heenan wrote in his book that he never wrestled in the WWA for Bruiser after he first left but it's simply not true. He came in once right after he left Atlanta and it looks like he took dates a few times around the Christmas holidays for Bruiser and the WWA. Heenan's Mom lived in Indianapolis so while visiting he worked a few dates. Last edited on Fri Mar 13th, 2015 05:04 am by Chitown Rich |

Added a note to the results. Thanks Badceo. I'm thinking Heenan did a no-show or Bruiser false advertised him as there's not a finish listed just a match. Janesville has the result of a match. December 27, 1980 was a Saturday and the drive between the towns is 3 1/2 hours if you follow the speed limit which most wrestlers most likely didn't. It's possible one show was a matinee and Heenan did a double shot.
