Why wait until Wednesday or Thursday to put the thread up?

Only 4 games and they're all interesting in their own way

4:30 EST on Saturday has New Orleans at Seattle and as far as I can remember the first time ever that a wildcard team was on the road and favored over a division winner. And giving 10+ points to boot.

The late game Saturday night has the Jets at Indy for a rematch from last year's AFC Championship

The Sunday early game has Baltimore traveling to KC for the Chief's first playoff appearance in four years.

Sunday late afternoon has Green Bay at Philly.

Your opinions, analysis as well as talking about the games as they unfold are all on the table.

New Orleans (10.5) at Seattle
NY Jets at Indy (2.5)
Baltimore (2.5) at Kansas City
Green Bay at Philly (2.5)

Green Bay 21-20

I would love to see Seattle beating the New Orleans Saints though.  And then move on to defeat the Falcons to get to the NFC Championship.

New Orleans (10.5) kills Seattle 35 -3
Indy (2.5) upends the NY Jets   27 -14
Baltimore (2.5) stomps Kansas City 24  - 7
Green Bay gets by Philly (2.5) 24- 21

only competive game is Greenbay beating Philly.  Colts show Ryan is all smoke and mirrors.  Saints and ravens show their opponents don't belong in the playoffs.

NO 31-3  Seattle is just pathetic.
NYJ 21-17 Indy's injuries finally catch up with them.
KC 20-17  The upset special.
PHI 21-14 No way the NFL wants Philly to be eliminated in the first round.

I will be at the Philly/Green Bay game (Not wearing Packers gear for fear of death) so I am crazy hyped for that. Packers should pull it off by getting at Vick all night.

I see Kansas City pulling off the upset and beating the Ravens. The Ravens offense has looked lackluster the past couple of weeks.

Colts/Jets should be a repeat of the AFC Championship game from last year. I am sure Rex Ryan is cursing the Oakland Raiders for showing up in week 17.

Saints/Seahawks will be closer than people are expecting but the Saints will definitely move on to the next round.

Most of the injured players are finally healthy again other than Collie and Gonzalez on offense.

On D, everyone is good except for the safety position.  Not a fan of the Francisco kid at all, but the D has really stepped up lately...especially on their run defense.

Agree with ivp's picks.

Packers win.

Chiefs win.

Colts win and cover.

Saints win but Seattle covers.

I thought if they scored a TD that was game

Only if they go for a field goal would the other team get the ball

I think its a fair rule, it will definitely put the pressure on the team who wins the flip to try and score a TD to end it

Seattle embarasses the Saints by kicking a game winning FG    24-21

Indy and Jets in a tight game the first 3 quarters. Manning throws 3 tds in the 4th and blows out the Jets.   31-10

Ravens learns from Raiders and crushes KC .  45-17

High scoring game but Eagles win with running game.  35-27

this should shut up the ones who say that a 7-9 team shouldn't be in the playoffs

EDIT: just after typing that, a nice TD throw by Seattle to put them up 24-17  lol

Absolutely! 31-20 btw.

The Saints could still win by 30 points or more. They're that explosive. Most of the country has unfairly written off the Seahawks because they are 7-9 but they have the crowd behind them plus it is 1 game. If it was best of 7 pretty sure the Saints dominate but the "Hawks" are a better team that the record indicates and IMO opinion Pete Carroll is a guy who can get the most out of his team in a situation like this.

The Seahawks are putting a beatin on the Saints......

Im hoping Rex loses today/tonight too........he's a loud mouth, and his Jets arent that good. Im actually sick of Rexy, and his mouth running all the time. he just says jackassy things. Im all for firing up your team, and what not, but he's just a loud mouth, who cant seem the shut the fuck up.

I guess we know "who dat" this year.

This sucks for football to see a 7-9 team get hot at the right time and knock off the defending champions, but that's why they play the game.(and it's not over yet as I type this,so the Saints may come back, but I'm not holding my breath.

I also gotta wonder how or if Ed Reed is going to perform tomorrow what with his brother missing and presumed dead.

The lowest remaining seed travels to Atlanta.  If Seattle wins, Philadelphia would have to win to send the Seahawks to Atlanta.  If the Packers beat the Eagles (and the Seahawks win), the Packers go to Atlanta.

These two playoff games every year are a painful reminder that NBC doesn't really have an NFL "B" team.

I will say that he's worlds better than Kenny Albert, who may be one of the worst. His fake announcer man voice is fucking dreadful, as is Mauro Ranallo's, who I also can't stand.

Absolute best run I've seen since Roger Craig in 1988. What a great play of determination!

I was wagering on a blowout by the Saints.  Not so.

And that was a great run by Lynch.  I do not know if Lynch's determination was the key factor in the play or the shitty attempts of tackling by the Saints.  Either way, it was one of those memorable post-season runs.

Yeah it was

And how stupid is NBC for posting the tidbit that Seattle is the first team in NFL history to win a playoff game, considering the announcers stated hundreds of times during the game that Seattle was the first team in history to make the playoffs with a losing record

Great game.  Just shows that you never know.   I picked the Saints but didn't think they were a lock based on last week.  Still, I would have given them a 95% chance of winning.

I disagree with the halftime reporting where they say this is not on par with the Giants upsetting the Patriots in the Superbowl with Seattle defeating the New Orleans Saints.  This was an epic upset, considering they were -11 in the spread, plus they were 7-9 facing the defending champions

I'm beginning to wonder if Indianapolis is trying to lose by not holding the Jets in this half at all

Now it 14-10 because Indy decided to let the Jets march down the field twice, converting 3rd and 5+ a few times.  Maybe its time for the Colts to fire the Defensive Coordinator and get someone who can actually stop a freiking run for a change

The Saints Defense has been suspect all year.  But after basically reigning in Atlanta, I thought maybe they had righted the ship.  That was bad though.  Every TD pass was to a wide open receiver with NO ONE covering him.  Ridiculous.

Offense still scored 36 points (without a running game, though Jones looked ok) which should be enough to win most NFL games.  Do not know what happened to the defense from last year to this year.

Oh well.  I still think Payton is a heck of a coach and will keep them at least in the playoff hunt as long as he is here.

Caldwell is a giant pussy

Down by 4, 5 minutes left, a Defense who can't stop a 3 yr old running right now, and they kick a field goal when they get into the red zone.

If the Colts lose, they deserve it for playing like garbage

That should do it.  Looks like the Colts will pull this out.  Can't believe that the Jets only took 45 seconds off the clock after keeping the ball on that flag.

Why the fuck go for a long ass pass on 3rd and 5 instead of running that ball

Looks like th eJets D is winded, a waste of a time out there

It makes no sense.   Why did the Colts just try to pass the ball?  Some horrible coaching.

They had to take that time out.  They have to conserve time because when Vinatieri makes the FG, they'll need as much time as possible to get back downfield.

Since Collingsworth called it a catch, it will probably be overturned.  I have seen the announcers be wrong a dozen times this year on replay.

A catch.  They need about 12 yards for a very makeable FG.

About 50 miles SE of Chicago in Northwest Indiana.  I live in a section of the state that actually can see both the Colts and Bears play on TV so I grew up a fan of both

Nice of the refs to give that game to the Jets....considering Edwards pushed off in order to get that catch and didn't draw a flag for it.

If the Colts Defense had actually attempted to you know, play defense, that play would never have happened.  Also if the Kickoff team had actually stopped the run farther back after the FG, again, that catch not happen

If the Colts had gone for the 1st down and not a FG with 5 minutes left on 4th and 4, who knows how much more time the Colts could have taken off the clock

Nope, the officials didnt cost the Colts the game, the shitty defense and shitty offensive play calling cost the Colts

You can't say the Jets didn't give Manning and Garcon every opportunity to run away with the game...especially in the first half.
The Colts had their chance and didn't get it done.

The 8 yard gain to the 34 was the play that I could not believe the Colts let happen and he got out of bounce.

I give the Jets credit, they did not crumble like they could have with 54 seconds left and found the Colt weaknesses on Defense well int he final drive

Now to hope that the PAtriots knock  em out next week, so that Rex Ryan will crash and burn

It seems I'm the only one that went 2-0 in yesterday's picks and it looks like I could be 3-0 after the Baltimore-KC game if things keep going as they are. Baltimore just picked off Cassel with 3 minutes in the 3rd.

Giving up 30 points isn't bad when a defense has to play when their offense has the ball for 23 plays in the second half, nets 15 yards, and gives up the ball four times.  If the Chiefs' defense had played a bad game, the Ravens might have had 50+ points with how bad the offense was.  If your offense is putting you on the field for over 2/3 of the game, it's hard to stay fresh.

Blame Akers. Had he made the shorter of his 2 FG muffs, the Eagles wouldn't have had to go for 2 on the TD. The score would have been 21-20 and Vick wouldn't have had to go endzone. Another 10-15 yards and then let Akers lose it for them.

No no, you have to blame Philly's "Punching Bag", McNabb...it's always his fault.......they lost because of him. Some fan will probably claim he used mental telepathy on them, or jinxed them? McNabbs the reason Vick got hurt near the end...Mcnabb blah blah blah.......

Its all McNabb's fault...never anyone else's.

Yes it's a lucky draw but Seattle beat The Bears 23-20 earlier in the season.

But I think the playoff Bears will show up, and you know damn well that they will be telling Cutler to take plenty of his "good" pills  lol

That's the key. Cutler.

For the Bears yes, but Seattle doesn't have a great QB either.  It will be an interesting game though

Oddly enough, it was one of Seattle's two road wins on the season.  I still have to think it's better than having the Packers coming in.

It is. As I've said before on this board as a Bears fan, I fear the Packers. I saw The Saints and The Falcons play a few weeks ago on what was it a special edition of Thursday Night Football?  Neither team impressed me that game. That's why I picked Seattle ATS against the Saints. That's why I don't fear Atlanta. I do however fear Green Bay and still think the Packers will represent the NFC in the Super Bowl. Yep the Packers will beat The Falcons then beat The Bears.

The Packers did not impress me tonight, they seemed off.  But they are scary when they are on the mark though

As far as the Bears go, if the O-Line protects Cutler, he could hurt GB as well as GB seems to have issues with short cut routes, which Cutler is good at

That's the thing with the NFC. There isn't a dominant team. It's the old on any given Sunday cliche. In the end though, I trust Aaron Rodgers more than I do Matt Ryan, Matt Hasselback or Jay Cutler.

I'm confident the Steelers can beat the Ravens again, but both teams beat each other up so bad no matter who wins there won't be much left to face NE (who, let's face it, will beat the brakes off the Jets again no matter how much everyone outside of Boston wishes they won't).

This is what worries me, also.

it's the perfect scenario for New England and working out the way we hoped...Jets barely beat Indy and look bad doing so (Manning is out - he's dangerous, Sanchez?..not so much)
and Baltimore and Pittsburgh destroy each other in a grudge match

facing Baltimore in the 2nd round would have been the scariest option

thank you Jets!!
see you sunday

I see the Steelers stopping the Ravens again this time.  Ravens got em once this year but over all Pittsburgh is too much for them.

I really think Baltimore or Pittsburgh could take the Patriots if the Jets actually play a decent game against them, unlike last time, and really expose the Patriots weaknesses for them to further exploit.  As far as their game goes, the broken nose game is what is going to occur this weekend, its going to be a very close game and in the end, I see Pittsburgh winning by 3 points

I see the Pats coming right out of the gate throwing, so the Jets will setup a defense for the pass, and the Pats will run the ball killing the Jets D early in the game, and probably demoralizing them for the rest of the 1st half.  The games final score will be alot closer than it really was, with the Pats winning by 14(but they will have a huge lead at the half)

Chicago, like Claw stated, if Good Cutler shows up(does anyone else miss the days when Chicago fans never had to say the words "good"or "bad" before the QB name?) and the good O-Line shows up, Cutler is gonna light up Seattle.  If the Defense catches fire early, Hasselback will be staring at the sky quite a few times.  But I can see the Seattle defense playing havoc with the Bears O-Line as well.  But I think this game will be a squeeker with the Bears winning in the final 8 minutes of the game

Green Bay and Atlanta is going to be a physical game.  I see GB winning a very very close game and I would not be surprised if this game didn't end up in OT honestly, where we will see the first OT with the new rules.  Like Claw stated, I am going with Green Bay this game

Flacco has played the Steelers five times in his career. He is 2-0 when Big Ben is out of the game and 0-3 when he is in the game. I don't see the Ravens winning this one.

Bears will beat the Seahawks and that will be that.

Jets will show up for the game with the Patriots but ultimately fall short. Patriots move on.

My Packers were awesome last night and I barely escaped from Philly alive. Hoping the Packers can get past the Falcons and move on to Chicago for round three with the Bears.
