Took my wife who is a huge fan and has sen him more than 10 times.  He played Raleigh at the RBC Center.  Our setas were on the lower level far back of the arena so we moved to the prioritry lounge and stood behind the VIP and Handicap spots and watched.

Billy Falcoln Opened and was an 11 piece band from Nashville, kind of Springsteenish.  A guy from Kentucky said he saw them open for Southside Johnny 30 years ago so that makes sense.  I want to be the guy playing tambourine in an 11 piece band.

Bon Jovi came on at 8:45 and played till 11:10.  Played all the hits and some new ones.  Did a cover of Pretty Woman (whole song) in the middle of Bad Medicine.  About 10:20 a couple leaving gave us their second row tickets so we moved and watched the rest of the show up close which made my wife happy.  I know all the radio hits and a few I recognize from her CDs so it was an OK show.  But usually concerts are sausage fests.  This show was a taco fest.  75% chicks some really hot, some not, some 40-50 year old rocker chicks with their hair sprayed up and trying to squeeze into leather pants they had in 1987.  My wife had a great time but probably would have been better had she gone with her usual group of girls.  Not a bad show not a great show, good people watching show.

Encored with Dead or Alive and Livin on a Prayer which were fun sing alongs.

Seeing them on Thursday.  I had heard they were doing 3 hour shows so that actually seems a little short.  I still can't find out who the opener is, apparently they have different openers for every show and there's some contest and a voting system in place to open for him.  Tracking the set lists it seems like he's mixing in a few different songs every night, but he's been doing "Pretty Woman" consistently.

Does each member really have equal ownership?  I saw him on Larry King maybe 3 months ago and he pretty much said the band is all him, he makes the decisions, he surreounds himself with talented people, and they go along with what he says.  Seriously, he said that.  He's got one hell of an ego and has fallen into the Bono category now where he's a brand unto himself and he only plays music in between running a conglomerate and saving the world.

I've seen him and Sambora on TV saying that they all signed contracts years ago giving the band equal ownership among the original members. They claim they split the money earned by the band equally among the 4 originals (I don't think they ever gave the bass player they've had for almost 20 years official membership), though Bon Jovi and Sambora get more on publishing for the songs they write.

Just got an email from MSG thanking me for my purchase and reminding me about the show and all that shit.  It says that the show will start promptly at 7:30 PM and there is no opener.  That kinda sucks.

The email I got from Ticketmaster said the same thing about the Raleigh show but there was an opener. Who made sure to mention his buddy "Jon" 8 hundred times during his 40 minute set. Wanted to make sure everyone knew who his friends are I suppose.

Did the opener go on at the time that Ticketmaster said the show would start?  My e-mail said the show is starting at 7:30 with no opener, but I find it hard to believe that Bon Jovi will be taking the stage that early.

Where did you sit?  WE watched most of the show from above 118 before moving to the second row there.

The bass player is a hired gun, kind of like Darryl Jones in the Rolling Stones. By not replacing the original guy, Bon Jovi's members can split the dough four ways instead of five.

When Bill Wyman left the Stones, it enabled them to finally make Ron Wood a full member without cutting into the shares held by Mick, Keith, and Charlie. Mick Taylor was never a full member, one of his many grievences.

After Keith Moon died and Kenney Jones stepped in, Roger Daltrey has long ripped Jones as being a poor choice due to his style of drumming. However, I've always suspected that Roger coveted the share of the band's revenues that went to Moon and which ended up with Jones due to Pete's insistance on making Jones a full member instead of a member for publicity who was actually a salaried player. This resentment meant that getting Roger back into The Who in the late 1980s required Jones being bought out, reducing the group to a four way split between the remaining three original members and their longtime manager.

This is probably a debate for another time but, IMO, Roger Daltry should STFU and be glad he got to play in a band with Pete Townsend.  If Pete wants the drummer to be a full member, you just be grateful that you are one too and be quiet.

Why the hate for Daltry?  MAybe you should start a new topic about it.

Grog, here's your set list if you wanted it.  I was checking to see what they might play tonight but they change it pretty drastically every single show.

Edit: Ok, that was almost unreadable so rather than use setlist.fm, here's the link to Bon Jovi's website.  Very interesting that the 10-minute long "Dry County" was on the sheet and then was actually crossed off and they didn't play it.  Running long I guess.  I wouldn't imagine that they would ever even consider playing a 10-minute song in concert.  Every time I've seen G'n'R, I hope against hope that they play "Coma", knowing they never will.
