He did tonight too.  I'll post a full review tomorrow as well as the setlist, but I have to say this was an average at best show and maybe last on my all-time meter of amount of kick-ass divided by price of concert ticket.  And I'll say this, on "Runaway" and a few other older songs, Jon didn't even attempt to approach the high notes.  He also sung some older songs like pop or country songs, which annoyed the hell out of me.

Took the stage at 8:10, got off at 10:40, so they played exactly 2 1/2 hours.  No opener.  Jon was standing on a tiny platform behind the sound guys when the lights came up for his first song, which no one knew.  He then walked thrpugh the crowd to the stage shaking hands and when he got there he screamed "Shot through the heart" which got a huge pop.

Everyone who said there would be primo tail there was fucking lying.  There were plenty of chicks there who were probably hot in the '80s, but I mean the 1880s.  I mean fucking OLD broads.  Lots of families too, tons and tons of kids under 13 with parents.  Old women and kids, not a rock show feel at all.  The fans for the most part didn't know anything except the mega-hits off of "Slippery" and sat down for most of the show, only standing for a few of the bigger ones.  The crowd was absolutely dead for anything really new, and he played more of those than I would've liked.

Jon didn't talk to the crowd much and when he did he was corny.  His first little speech, paraphrasing, "What a great week to be in the greatest city in the world and at the world's most famous arena.  Well I don't wear crazy clothes like Gaga and I'm not the new kid in town like Melo, but if you like a fine wine that gets better with age then hopefully you'll dig me."  It sounded just as gay when he said it.

There was no "Blood on Blood" or "Blaze of Glory", so that was disappointing.  The setlist really changes a bit from show to show so maybe I just didn't get lucky.  Too much shit off of "The Circle" and the new songs from the "Greatest Hits" album.  Worst of all, he changed his cadence on even some of his recognizable songs, making it hard to sing along to and throwing the crowd when they tried.  And he sung a lot of songs like they were pop or country, even the ones not meant to sound that way.  As I mentioned before, he didn't attempt a high note at all and just stayed within a very comfortable range.  He had a huge stage but didn't run around much either, although he must've done 300 jumping jacks by the time the show was over and he's obviously in great shape.  Still, he lost his breath on a few songs near the end.

The highlights to me were an extended version of "Bad Medicine" with the "Pretty Woman" cover, and of course "Livin' on a Prayer" where he finally turned into a real rock star for the final song.  The rest of the show was very...eh.

First time I saw Bon Jovi was around 1983 opening for ZZ Fucking Top at MSG. Not bad at all as they were just coming into their own as an opening arena band. I caught them again at the peak of Bon Jovimania in 1987 once again at the Garden and it was the loudest show I've ever heard. Not Marshall stack loud, loud as in 15 year old girls screaming their barely pubescent heads off. This must have been what a Beatles show was like. The '87 show was really awesome as they played virtually all of Slippery and choice cuts off the first couple of albums. Plus of course the atmosphere was electric. I would have no desire whatsoever to see Jon in the 21st century.

Grog unfortunately we were upstairs but at least not too high up. Still a damn good show.

Srossi "Blood On Blood" opened this show and seems to open most of them from what I have read

So who's the 6th guy who was on stage?  Bon Jovi is officially Jon, Sambora, Torres, and Bryan.  Then you have Hugh McDonald, who is for all intents and purposes in the band except they don't want to pay him.  But there was one more guy with them.  He was the guy who sand "Pretty Woman" with Jon (unless that was Hugh, I'm not sure what he looks like, but I don't think it was him).

Fuck Bon Jovi.  Friday night, 2nd night at MSG, they play a kick-ass show with better songs and 2 encores, 3 hour show with 30 songs as opposed to what they gave me for the same ticket price 24 hours earlier.  And they finally did the 10-minute "Dry County" too.
