We're paying now for the Bears unexpected good season. Lovie Smith has had his contract extended for two more years.

Packer, Viking and Lion fans have to be jumping for joy.

I know I'm not.

I expected it once they clinched the Division.

Angelo and Smith both need to go. Angelo will retire one of these years. We are stuck with Lovie. But like I've said in the past, he's a better coach than Jauron or Wanny. If the Bears fire Lovie, the next coach could be abysmal. At least Lovie gets lucky from time to time.

I sort of feel bad for Lovie, because there is going to be a QB controversy for quite awhile everytime Cutler has a bad game.  The issue with Cutler is far from over.

It's hard to justify canning a guy after a run to a conference championship game, and a two-year extension is hardly a ringing endorsement.  If Smith bombs next season, the Bears should be able to easily afford that buyout.

You're right. They are really just playing it year to year.  They did well this season. You can't can him for that.

I like Lovie because he seems to be a really good guy but I wish someone else was calling the plays.
