I seem to remember Ricky Gibson making a brief comeback in Mid-South Wrestling some time after his car accident... Does anyone have any information on any or all results for Ricky Gibson post injury... Was curious when he came back, how long he was back, where he worked, and when he called it quits again...

Ricky was in Mid-South in the fall/winter of '85-'86, but never really got above midcard status. Obviously, they put over his being Robert's brother, but he never got over.

From Houston:
11/22/85: Ricky Gibson def. Nick Patrick
11/29/85: Hector Guerrero, Al Perez & Ricky Gibson def. Dr. Death, Eddie Gilbert & The Nightmare
12/13/85: Dr. Death def. Ricky Gibson
12/27/85: Ricky Gibson def. Rick Steiner*
12/29/85: Ricky Gibson def. JR Hogg
1/5/86: The Nightmare def. Ricky Gibson
1/24/86: Ricky Gibson def. Rick Steiner*
1/31/86: Stan Lane def. Ricky Gibson
2/28/86: Sheepherders def. Ricky Gibson & Tracy Smothers
3/14/86: Korchenko def. Ricky Gibson

*Steiner hadn't been pushed yet and was at this point a semi-jobber.

The last newspaper listing (and pics) I have of him in Alexandria is from the March 8, 1986 show (teaming with "Rob Ricksteiner" vs The Bladerunners - 1st Alexandria appearance of Bladerunners).

I have pics of him from earlier shows, but I didn't keep track of who wrestled on the first few shows in my scrapbook and I'd been to many shows before I began scrapbooking them, so the first dated show I have is Feb 8,1986. Gibson was teaming with Al Perez vs the Sheepherders on that show.  I know he was on a number of shows in Alexandria before that, but I don't have the clippings.

I also have a newspaper clipping from the Feb 19, 1986 show.  He's billed as teaming with Terry Taylor vs Rob Ricksteiner & Tarus Bulba, though I suspect that was broken into singles matches.  The undercard was frequently changed around, and I have pictures of Taylor and Gibson walking to the ring individually. They appear to be solo, not walking with a partner.  I don't have any in ring shots of either to see who they are wrestling.

That's right. He was in the 87 Crockett Cup with the Italian Stallion as his partner. They lost to Ronnie and Jimmy Garvin in the 1st round.

I had seen his name and couldn't remember who the hell he was either, until I was going through my old scrapbooks a couple of months ago and found the program for the 87 Crockett Cup. There he was. Ricky Gibson, clear as day, under the name "Ricky Lee Jones".  It was something that I didn't remember at all, even though I know I was familiar with Gibson, as I'd seen him live in Mid-South several times before in 85/86.

JCP made no mention of Ricky Lee Jones being Robert Gibson's brother. That name had to be a rib. Rickie Lee Jones is a female singer whose popularity peaked in the late 1970s and early 1980s, but was still well known in 1987. She still has a following.

Yeah, I actually did remember that there was a JCP prelim guy named Ricky Lee Jones because of the female singer, but I did not remember that it was Ricky Gibson.

EDIT:  I looked at that Crockett Cup '87 program. It says Jones has long been considered one of the most talented wrestlers in the country, but a series of injuries have kept him from the top.
