I still think Detroit is taking the division though
They're sure not playing as if they want it, are they? I think Leyland's job is on the line this time, so they need to pull out whatever miracles they have, and at least get to the playoffs IMO, or Jim's gone.
Like I said, the only team in the Central that seems to want the Division, is mathematically eliminated, which is Cleveland.

Detroit and Chicago both seem to want the other team to win it.  It seems neither wants this year to be a success, almost like if it is, they know management will not make the minor tweaks both teams need to be way better than they are now.

Sox lost to Cleveland. The collapse continues.

It is a collapse, but I really did not expect the White Sox to actually finish above .500 either, which they will do this year, making it two straight managerial debuts with a winning record

I agree. Never would have predicted the White Sox in a pennant race.

All the White Sox need is another decent pitcher, and yes I think Peavy will be way better next year since he will have managed to play a complete season for the first time in 3 years(I believe).  They also need another speedy player who can steal bases while on base as well.  If they can get Youk for cheaper than what his option is worth, they should get him for 3rd base.  They already have Konerko's replacement(I will miss Paulie, but I really think he is done after this year) with Dunn, so they are good at 1st base.

The White Sox are in a good position for next year.

Sox win. Tigers lose. Detroit's lead is down to one game.

The way both teams are playing, there is going to be a 1 game playoff in Detroit

And I'm sure the Tigers will find a way to fuck it up.

I thought I read that Peavy was told he won't be back next year.

Then they need a couple new pitchers.  I didn't read that at all.

Mike,

I'm bad at links so google in

"Chicago White Sox team report Chicago Tribune" and down in the notes section it says that if the Sox pick up the option on Peavy next year it will cost them $22 million. They already told him they are not picking up the option and will let him test the free agent market.
The notes then say they'd love to have him back at a cheaper salary if it could be worked out.

Meaning: he'll probably be a Yankee next year, no way does Chicago give him even half that $22 million, not for his arm history. Philliemight/Boston or so other team might overpay, but I don't see the WhiteSox doing it.

Thanks

Yeah no way they pick up that option, same with Youk(supposedly $15 million)

I think next year is the official rebuilding year, they simply overachieved this year
