Current standings

Dodgers 28-13
Giants 21-20
Diamondbacks 19-23
Padres 16-26
Rockies 15-25

Dodgers appear to have this division in the bag. The Rockies and Padres really suck.

I'm glad to see the Dodge fans actually getting a team to cheer on finally.

Dodgers are now being hit with injuries. We'll see how deep they are.

But Arizona has also been nailed with injuries, so pretty much the two best teams in the division are injured

Playing the Padres 9 times already will help any teams ERA.

Dodgers hit the Cards at the right time. They are 2-8 in their last ten games(not counting tonites game).
I am not a believer in the Dodgers yet.If they win the division its because the Giants are playing like shit.

Ive always kind of liked the Dodgers so i will be rooting for them. I just don't know if that pithing will hold up. Harang and Capuano are not usually this good. With new ownership though they could go out a get somebody to replace them.

I think the Dbacks will give them a run by the end just not enough. The Giants really lack offense at this point. If that can improve count them in at making a run.

The Giants are last in fielding in the majors. They are next to last in hitting HRs. They are near the bottom in hitting with runners in scoring position. Only thing they have going for them is their deep pitching staff.

They have a nice lineup when they get healthy.
Cabrera is have a great year. Pagan is surprisingly good.
Posey will probably be the NL cather in the ASG. Sandoval and Freddy Sanchez have to get healthy fast for the Giants to make a run. The bench is probably the worst in the majors.

Can't see the Giants or anyone else overtaking the Dodgers.
The Dodgers would have to run into a slew of injuries for that to
happen, or have a Red Sox collapse. Just keep fried chicken & beer out of the
clubhouse.

I don't know why everyone is so high on the Dodgers.
They got off to a good start but they had a favorable schedule. They had a 10 game stretch where they played only the Padres and Pirates where they went 9-1. They have not even made a trip to the East Coast yet.Pitching wise they are fine but looking up and down their lineup they have Kemp and Either and nothing else. Now Kemp is gone for another month.

MILWAUKEE -- Having hit for the cycle less than two weeks ago, Aaron Hill had a plan for when he came up with a shot at a second one.

Well, as much as one can plan for the rare batting feat.

"You can't think about it," he said. "You look for a ball up and hope things work out."

It did. Hill hit for the cycle for the second time in 12 days and Ian Kennedy pitched seven strong innings, leading the Arizona Diamondbacks to a 9-3 victory over the Brewers on Friday night.

Hill also singled, doubled, tripled and homered on June 18 against Seattle.

Brooklyn's Babe Herman is the only other major leaguer to hit for two cycles in one season since 1900, according to STATS LLC. He accomplished the feat in 1931.

"A cycle is one of those crazy things and to do it twice in (12) days -- that's crazy," Brewers starter Randy Wolf said.

Hill doubled for his 1,000th hit in the first, singled in the third and hit his 11th home run of the season, a two-run shot in the fourth. All those hits came off Wolf (2-6).

Hill tripled in the sixth inning off Livan Hernandez. His head-first slide into third easily beat the relay throw from the outfield.

Brewers manager Ron Roenicke wasn't surprised by Hill's hitting prowess.

"He can really hit," Roenicke said. "This is a really good hitter. We made some bad pitches."

Brewers catcher George Kottaras appreciated the pressure Hill was under. Last season, Kottaras became the seventh player in franchise history to hit for the cycle.

"He's swinging really well," Kottaras said. "I know it's tough to do it once."

Hill seemed a bit dumbfounded by his good fortune, but still happy with it.

"It's great," the Diamondbacks' second baseman said. "Obviously, it's great to get the win, too. It wouldn't have been as enjoyable if we came away with a loss. It was just a fun game."

I see the Diamondbacks passing the Dodgers too.
Dodger lineup stinks. Kemp is hurt. Either is hurting. Rest of lineup is made up of guys that would be backups on other teams.

Giants just got their asses swept in Washington.
Giants now have to face their 4th first place team in a row.

Dodgers (sweep)
Reds (split)
Nationals (swept)
Pirates (up next)

I see the Dodges out by Sept first unless they make a move for some hitting.... Especially on the corners. Would the Dodgers consider moving someone like Billingsly for someone like ....Encarcion?

What would the Dodgers be willing to give for Batista ? The Jays seem reluctant to
trade their prospects & since they'll likely finish last this year with Jose, maybe
Batista will be traded. Batista can play 3rd besides the OF.

He seems to pitch decently at home. His era is 3.43 and currently with 15 scoreless innings.
On the road his era is 9.00
He's definitely a cold weather pitcher.
I hope its 50 degrees in philly Friday.

The Giants are basically done with the hard part of their schedule. the Dodgers will be tested in September when they visit (in a row)the Giants for 3, visit Zona for 2, home vs the the cards for 4, 3 in washington, and 3 in atlanta.
