Observation from a fantasy player-:

Hunter Pence is the most uncoordinated, dorky player I've ever seen.  Between his getting hurt in a door, his mannerisms, and now almost knocking out Matsui, he's a fucking clown.  Somebody shoot that wounded gazelle already!

Felix Hernandez is available to be a part of one of your rosters. He's got an HOF arm, but he's a lazy bastard and I hate him.  Numbers are good. He'll probably do well for you.  I want another underachiever of the same ilk in return.  I've offered somebody a trade already (great pitcher but an injury risk).  I'll take my chances.

Brodies on fire right now.  It might help if Amerorig would log in once in a while to play guys who aren't hurt, in the minors, etc.....and bench or cut those that are.

Dave Duncan is the best pitching coach in the game and it's not even close.  The pitching coach in Seattle is on the opposite end of the spectrum.   Wait, it's Mel Stottlemyre!

T-Bolt's pitching is on fire.  I am up against a strong crew there.

Just to have real-life mimicked, my team has gone from cellar dwellar to serious contender since A-Rod hit the DL for me.  Go figure.

Thank you for Garret Anderson. The last week and a half have been nice.

Verlander is driving me crazy. I keep thinking he's going to break out of it, but he's hasn't yet. On the other hand, who'd have thought that Cliff Lee would be my ace?

Anderson is one of those guys who seem to screw whoever owns him first.

I'd like to thank whoever drafted and dropped Ervin Santana.  He's been my ace.  I knew Jair Jurrjens from last year when I picked him up and he nearly threw a perfect game.

What sucks is that I've spent all season scrambling because I would never have drafted my team in a million years.  I didn't like Felix, Uggla, Jack Cust, Garrett Anderson, Rocco Baldelli (WTF is with the autodraft settings), Kaz Matsui, Alex Rios, and the last 10 guys I received.
Fortunately Uggla has been a stud recently.

Rocco Baldelli needs to be dropped from the Yahoo leagues altogether.  I could have had the San Diego Chicken and would have taken him instead.

Ben-I don't own Pence.  He's a fucking spaz though.

And if I a Reds fan, I've seriously got to consider rooting for another team.  The team sucks ass, yet they play Matt Belisle and Corey Patterson over Homer Bailey and Jay Bruce.  Nice way to build a franchise.  Retards.

I made a my bum for your bum trade with Bolt. Gary Sheffield for Carlos Pena. My team is weak at first base and strong at outfielder. Hopefully Pena can get it going.

I'm a Reds fan and I couldn't agree more.  We've been begging for years to get better pitching and we finally get it in the form of Volquez and Cueto and yet now the team can't get any run support going and we've got a guy like Aaron Harang with a low 3. something ERA with 1 win.  It's ridiculous.  And Bronson Arroyo hasn't been much better except for his past start or two.

I just got a laugher of an offer for Felix.  I am looking for someone who is equally as talented and doing even worse than Felix (Sabathia, Verlander, etc....) not Bob Apodaca.  Please, I'll take your frustration off your hands.

Does Hoops Johnson ever check the league site?

Get your fucking story straight J.

And could we please get an e-mail list of who the fuck is who in our league?  Except for you (J), Claw, Socal, and Dog Faced Gremlin, it's almost impossible to set up a trade because nobody seems to check the site.

If anybody has any Angels they are willing to give up on, make me an offer.

Me and Claw dealing Gorzellany and Lilly was fair.

I think I easily got my ass handed to me on this self-initiated trade.

Wrong wrong wrong.  You bitch constantly about guys not being online, the draft, etc.

You said send me your underachiever for mine.  I offered.  You're so hot to trot to get rid of the bastard yet you dont make a counteroffer?

Fuck, a trade offer opens a discussion.  That was my first offer, not my final.

You don't wanna trade, that's fine.  Drop these guys an email, like I suggested, and you might have more luck.  Otherwise, no bitching, because you're not making an effort.

I would, but Felix is better than every one of his starters in sheer talent and I am not interested in them.  Like I need Adam Wainright when I have Gorlezanny or Westbrook coming back.  Same pitcher.
Take that as my counteroffer.
Fuck it,  I'm worn out from a 6:00am flight and don't feel like being PC right now.

Greg Smith will be legit better in 3 years.  Felix is, as you said, lazy.  His conditioning is poor and unless he ends up on a better team (with better coaching), he'll be a lost talent by '11 or so.

Cookie, did you like it better when Carl Lindner owned the franchise or now?

I dunno.  Really there isn't much of a difference from then until now.  Lindner wouldn't spend the money and we didn't win, and now they still really don't spend much, but more than before, and still suck.  Yeah I know they have won 5 in a row and I really hope this is how good the team really is but ever since the strike shortened season in 1994 we haven't had a good team.  We nearly made the playoffs in I believe 1999 and played the Mets in a one game playoff but it's really been a joke no matter who has been in charge.  I love the Reds and will support them forever and watch them damn near everyday but it just gets frustrating when you know they can be a better ball club.

Jay Bruce is tearing up AAA and they still have him in the minors?  The Reds are retards to keep Corey Patterson active.  Dumb.

Alright, I'm back to paying attention. HBF woke me up. Acutally, I was busy with the move but I'm ready to hunker down. Lo and behold, I somehow am in second? WTF? My pitching is terrible, although I tried to work the waiver wire for some upgrades.

For the record, I'd like to state that I smoked myself by offering Lilly for Gorzellany.  Good trade for Claw.

And fuck Ron Gardenhire for telling the press that Carlos Gomez was likely headed to the DL on Sunday.  I sit him and he's on fire.  Fucking prick!

Should be a good battle. I'm giving Bartolo Colon a try out this week. If he sucks, I'll waive him and pick up another pitcher. But you never know, Boston might score enough runs to support his fat ass.

I've thrown in the towel on saves, since Holds have the same value in this league.  I like this aspect of our league, since saves are so overrated.
It'll be interesting to see how Darrell Rasner does in his 2 starts, as he's been lights out.  Funny that circumstance allow me to start him and bench Max Scherzer, who has one of the best arms on my team.

Jeez, I look at all the rosters and I feel like my team was completely hosed by robo-draft. I have Rollins, Ordonez and Adrian Gonzalez and that is it. No pitching whatsoever.

Good matchup Claw.  I am convinced that I am snakebit against you.  My whole lineup is in a slump except for Jay Bruce, who (of course) was on my bench.  That makes me 0-4 since last season against you.  I've also never beaten Grog.
You two are the one's I'm gunning for.:D

My team looks like trash, but some of these no-namer guys are doing pretty well. Case in point: Whatshisname that blew up for the Tribe the other night. Now if only my pitching weren't so rancid...

The thing about our league is you just have to make the playoffs.  Anything can happen at that point.  Make it into the top 6 and you're in the dance.

I've been doing it without starting pitching all year long. Consider this. My Aces at the start of the season were Francisco Liriano and Tom Gorzelanny. Liriano is in the minors and I traded Tom G for Ted Lilly.

My rotation had a blessing with Dan Haren.  I hated everyone else on it, and I think I might have 10 of my original auto drafted players out of 30.

Anybody want Cliff Lee or Jim Thome? I'm willing to make a deal.

My team selectively plays. It didn't play Sunday at all. I was pretty even with HBF, but they all decided to go 0-3 and give up 6 runs in five innings.

True.  That's exactly what happened with me and Claw the week before.  I also seem to have players that get the weekends off from their manager, much to my dismay.

For those of you whom I had included Jair Jurrjens in a deal earlier, I did not know he was scratched and likely DL bound.  I quickly rescinded the offer once I found that out.  Sorry if you think I was trying to put something by any of you.  I wasn't.

I have lost patience with him.  He's a good young pitcher with too many ups and downs.  He'll be an upgrade on most staffs, but he's my biggest liablity now and that's why he's now available.
Good luck with him.  I truly enjoy watching the kid pitch.

I've been doing it without starting pitching all year long. Consider this. My Aces at the start of the season were Francisco Liriano and Tom Gorzelanny. Liriano is in the minors and I traded Tom G for Ted Lilly.

Yeah. Since we get points for holds, I'm working with Scott Eyre, who is a holdmaster this year.

I'm willing to deal some power for some pitching. I've got an abundance of hitting. Who wants to make a deal? Hammer to Fall, I'm interested in Lee if you wanna make a proposal...

My team selectively plays. It didn't play Sunday at all. I was pretty even with HBF, but they all decided to go 0-3 and give up 6 runs in five innings.

Trade(s) proposed

What an up and down week.  My hitters put up a weeks worth of numbers in the first two days then fell asleep.  Then my most consistent pitcher all year (Todd Wellemeyer) gives up 8 runs in not even 4 innings.

Scouring the rosters, I was surprised that Naitch is down to only 5 Cubs.  I thought he had at least 7 or 8.  :D

Marmol's great.  Howry was a goddamned disaster the first week when I played you and he played himself onto the waiver wire.

Howry's come around. He still gives up runs, but manages to get holds. Eyre's been great, not giving up a run this year.

Well, he's got to give up a run eventually. It's been a solid run for him, though, pun somewhat intended.

Rusty Kuntz,

I offered you a trade. I'd like one of your closers. I'm sure we can work something out.

Do any of you guys cringe when you match up with certain guys?

For the past two years, you can give me the Allstar team and give Claw or Grog a team of Mario Mendozas and they'll kill me every time.  Once again, I start out tonight with my team (so far) 3 for 31 and Mark Buehrle (who's been ace for the past 6 weeks) getting shelled.

And a big FUCK YOU to the dumb Pirates manager for benching Adam LaRoche, who is only the hottest hitter on that team.

I've had two of my four closers demoted this week - Ryan Franklin and Todd Jones. Three if the Mariners let Brandon Morrow become a starter.

And now, Naitch, you have acquired my old "Bum" Todd Wellemeyer.  He was aces in April and May but he's over his innings pitched high for any year he's been in the bigs.  High risk-high reward.

Can't disagree. I dumped Owings for him, so no loss. He'll likely just ride the pine. My pitching staff is so fucking random, but I've eeked two wins out of Chad Gaudin recently. Jarrod Washburn also gave me a complete game loss last week or two weeks ago. What the hell?

You could add Corey Patterson, Carlos Gomez, Jack Wilson, Melky Cabrera, Andruw Jones, Tom Gorzellany, Ian Snell, and Eric Gagne and you'd still beat me when we played.  I think it's the curse.

Well, it does suck when we lose arguably our best player over the recent time.

I might have a shot if you weren't double starting 3 pitchers this week (that are all pitching way over their heads, I think, but that's neither here nor there).

Race is shaking out.  Grog and Claw for the top spot, as they've been all year.  Me, Brodie and Naitch neck and neck as we've been all year for third.  In the lead for the 6th spot is Hammer To Fall, who will definitely earn her spot in the dance with extremely tough matchups against Claw, Brodie and Grog in the last 3 weeks.  Rusty is coming up from the back to enter the mix, as is Hoops Johnson.  Should be interesting.
This week I get to play the guy I handed Felix Hernandez to for the mullet haired, idiotic muppet/SS from San Diego.  That worked out well.:(

I thought Cliff Lee would have crashed and burned by now, but I can't say much bad about that; Ryan Braun has been nice.

I'm down to one closer in B.J. Ryan. I had briefly picked up Kyle Farnsworth because I thought my wintertime neighbor might get his act together and be the Tigers' closer. At least I wasn't actively using him that week.

This guy is the biggest retard in the history of Fantasy gurus.  Worse than Matthew Berry of ESPN.  He has Ervin Santana as the 40-something top starter and one-year wonder Fausto Carmona at 30.  He has Felix Hernandez above 10 pitchers who are better.  Just a complete numbnuts.  He has Paul Maholm ranked 50 spots BELOW Tom fucking Gorzellany (worst pitcher in MLB this year!).

His OF rankings are worse.  He has Alex Fucking Rios rated higher than Josh Hamilton (okay, you can say one-year wonder if you want, but we know he's not).  Alex Rios sucks.  I have him every year and I don't know how or why (this year he was drafted for me!):X

If anyone's enraged enough to torch his property, I can guide you right to his winter hunting lodge. There's even a nice public county road that serves as a property line for the north side of his property. Farnsworth does not have that fenced off. Just a few no trespassing signs.

After watching the Giants get beaten twice by Dallas and once by NE, yet winning in the playoffs, I am holding out hope that my team peaks at the right time and has the last laugh.  I got totally screwed last year as my team (IMO, the most solid team by far in our league-Posada, Pujols, Utley, Jeter, Chipper, Tori Hunter, Rios, Andruw, Beckett, Bedard, Brad Penny, Zambrano, K-Rod, Soria, etc...) tanked the last 4 weeks.  Due for a reversal this season, I hope....

Meanwhile I've been jobbing to bottom feeders the last couple weeks. I dunno, why, but my bats went dormant, though my Mod Squad pitching crew is holding its own.

At least you've never taken a 2-15 ass beating at the hands of Grog like I just did.  Brutal!  I hope to look back at that as my 14-41, 3 interception TD's the other way, home game vs. the Vikings.:D

Big J has 4 guys on the DL or that don't play whatsover and it's a good week for my team to hit a cumulative .173 or whatever they've been doing.  Buehrle & Jurrjens not pitching well doesn't help me make up ground either.

Back in first place. Great battle for 6th place. Grog and I are almost assured of first round playoff byes unless we both totally collapse this week.

Even though my team has a great record, my starting pitching still sucks. That could kill me come playoff time.

Yeah my starting pitching still sucks. Clayton Kershaw loses two games this week and gets sent to the minors. So now I waived Kershaw and have picked up the immortal Carl Pavano. I know HBF will get a kick out of that.

If I had picked up Pavano, he'd go out and give up 11 runs in the first inning, and Girardi would just leave him in to get shelled.  He'd finish with a 133.89 ERA or something similiar with a 9.43 WHIP.

You pick him up and he'll throw a one-hit shutout.

In the playoffs, I'll probably go with three starters and the rest relievers. No sense using an iffy starter when it counts. So that means I'll never use Pavano. I'll just waive him and pick up a relief pitcher. Only way I'll keep Pavano is if he gets on a roll.

I have 3 pitchers auditioning today for spots on my playoff roster:  Scott Baker, Jair Jurrjens and Jeff Francis.  All 3 could be dumped and it wouldn't bother me.

I almost dropped Dioner Navarro for Nick Hundley but Hundley plays the Dodgers and (I forget who else) and his matchups are brutal.  I'll stay put.

Fucking JJ Putz has only done bad by me since I've gotten the bastard.  He hit Longoria, who's still out and was arguably my best and most consistent player.

Grog, I'm prepared for you this time.  No blind loyalties to my team and what they've done in the past.  I am benching Dan Haren.  He's my worst pitcher right now.  Not cutting him (so Claw can pick him up) but he's going to get splinters on his ass until he shows he can pitch again.  I am more confident in Scott Baker, Mark Buerhle and Jeff Francis right now, not to mention Brandon Morrow.

I wish Carlos Guillen would just get shut down today so I'd know to drop him.

Uuuuhhhh, don't you think you might want to put me away first before you start making public posts about your next round matchup with Grog?

Granted, you've got a big 14-3 lead, but if I'm not mistaken, you haven't clinched anything yet.  I'll concede 8 wins (R, H, 2B, HR, RBI, AVG, OPS and CYC) and 2 ties (NH, PG) to you, but that's about it.  That still leaves 14 points up for grabs.  I have four quality starters going between today and tomorrow, each of which is a horse, each of which is capable of throwing a complete game shutout.

Anything, as they say, can happen.

EDIT:  Hey, 1,000 posts.  Yippee for me.

DFG, with all due respect, this isn't our league last year where you and I can make any difference in what our teams do.  We set our lineup each Sunday night and hope for the best.  I am not saying I've won, but I am saying that IN THE EVENT that Grog and I play, I am prepared and not going to play stupid loyalty like I've done in the past.

Of course, a few more "Carlos Guillens" and I'll be focusing exclusively on FB.

You're still in it, but having Rios and Rodriguez finally doing what they should has helped me immensely.  So has picking up Liriano-wow!

RP's still suck in every fashion except for the top few (Papebon, Mariano, Soria, KRod).  The rest just fuck up your BSV's, L's, ERA, WHIP.  They aren't worth it-they are relievers for a reason!

Good luck!

Gotcha.  Good luck to you as well.

And I'll let you in on a little secret...I think I'm all but done in this matchup anyways.  It's gonna take a near miracle for me to pull it out.  Your offense kicked ass this week, while mine dried up like Cloris Leachman.

I think it was you or your brother-in-law who knocked me out last year so we'd be even.  You're Todd, right?

I have a lot of questions that I wish would be answered between now and tomorrow nightl, like if Guillen and Longoria have a shot at playing.  Otherwise, I am in deep shit against Grog's potent bats waking up.  They're slumping big-time and I wish I had played him this week.
My plan is for Brandon Morrow to be the new Joba and give me what Haren is not.  He might have a better arm, believe it or not.  If it works, I'm a genius, and if not, I lose trying something new.
I am hoping that Manny keeps in check, Matt Holiday stays asleep and GODDAMMT JETER-STOP FUCKING HITTING!  Let A-Rod and Giambi light it up, will ya?

EDIT-DFG, do you think we put too much emphasis in Fantasy Baseball on Relievers?

Actually, Todd's my b-i-l.  I'm Greg.

As far as relievers goes, I think they're necessary is FBB; I like the format in this league with saves and holds because it forces one to rethink strategy.  One strategy may be to discount relievers entirely; another strategy is to place an inordinate focus on relievers in attempt to win WHIP and ERA as well.  It's all due to each manager's personal preference, I guess.

LOL @ Boogie's league. Missed the real playoffs by half a game. I was in last (12th) place. Ended up in 7th place. Suddenly my team started winning mainly because Sabathia turned his season around. It's one of those coulda, shoulda, woulda seasons. Well played league though. Everyone in that league is a serious player.

As for this league, injuries have kicked my @ss this week. Carlos Quentin and Marlon Byrd down. Ouch!! As usual, I hit the waiver wire for replacements.

As for this league, injuries have kicked my @ss this week. Carlos Quentin and Marlon Byrd down. Ouch!! As usual, I hit the waiver wire for replacements.

Yeah, you were almost the 1980 US Hockey Team in that league...tough break.

FWIW, Todd's "Rocket Implosion" in that league.  Had a tough season, and finished in the 12th slot that you formerly occupied.

Gotcha.  Good luck to you as well.

And I'll let you in on a little secret...I think I'm all but done in this matchup anyways.  It's gonna take a near miracle for me to pull it out.  Your offense kicked ass this week, while mine dried up like Cloris Leachman.

Okay, now it's over.  14-1.  Ugh.  What an ass whuppin'.

Good matchup.  Was that you last year that wiped me out in the playoffs?  Either you or Todd got hot that week and I couild not believe that I was losing with the team I had.  My team last year would have kicked my team's ass this one.

Nope, that was Todd.  I think he ended up taking 2nd last year.  I came in 5th.

Alright Grog! I've been getting my ass handed to me every time we play.  It's going to be different this time!

Good luck, but not good enough to win!

my team is showing its true colors the past few weeks.  Luckily I had a bye last week.  I won't roll over maybe I can have one of those lucky hot weeks.

In the Bayou Ballers league, my team was pretty solid all year and went stone dead the last two or three weeks. Bounced in the playoffs first round. Bummer.

As for S&W, a total 180 and I chokeslammed brodiescomics 14-2. Claw, our teams look pretty even for this week's final four matchup. Could be a blood bath.

Question for next week:  When we set our lineups, is it valid for the full two week period (if we're in the finals or the semis) or do we re-set it for the second week the following week?   This is very important to know ahead of time.

See HBF  I told you I really sucked and did it by smoke and mirrors all season.  The last 4-5 weeks I am probably the WORST team in the league

Bullshit.  You could put Alvaro Espinosa and you scare me.  You're not out of it whatsoever, and Claw's the same

I only have 5 guys playing tonight and you've got 11.  I hope to still be in the lead at the end.

How does Francisco Liriano throw 8 innings, give up 2 runs, and not get a decision?  The Twins suck.

I'm in the lead now but many categories are close. It will come down to which guys get hot on Sunday. Hurricane Ike has been a factor too.

It is possible that my NY Giants reference is ringing true, since I got stomped by both Grog and Claw all season.  Thanks to Grog and Claw who led the league all season on hard fought matchups.

Naitch, it's you and me, and I think you're between my team and destiny.

Claw, that a good match. Some timely hitting carried me, but I expected your pitching to prevail.

On to HBF. Good luck.

Trust me, if John Lannan is due to throw a no-hitter, it's against me.  My name is Charlie Brown.

One day does not a two week race make.  Good luck!

Haren, who I added to my finals roster at the insistence of a friend, throws a CG game shutout.  Meanwhile, Liriano, who has been MONEY for me all second half, gets lit up along with Morrow.
And at least 5 guys on my team are benched for various reasons.  I haven't had this happen all year.  Thank god it's two weeks and not one.  I have enough confidence in this roster over a two week period, but anything can happen in a one-week format.

Naitch-tell your fucking guys to stop hitting.  And tell that motley staff to start giving up some dingers, will 'ya?

I'm surprised no one has any SBs yet. Somehow I got about a dozen last week.

They'll come.  We could always pick up the worst players (ie-Brett Gardner) for a SB in order to sacrifice every other category.;)

For shits and giggles, I pulled up my Autodraft team that I was given:

1. (1) Álex Rodríguez 3B 2. (32) Víctor Martínez C,1B-traded him for Jason Giambi
3. (33) Álex Ríos CF,RF 4. (64) Dan Haren SP 5. (65) Chris Young CF 6. (96) Félix Hernández SP-traded him for Khalil Greene.  Ughhhh!
7. (97) Dan Uggla 2B 8. (128) Matt Kemp CF,RF 9. (129) Kenji Johjima C-traded him for Steven Drew
10. (160) Ted Lilly SP-traded him for Tom Gorzellany.  Ughh!
11. (161) Ian Snell SP-traded him for Chad Billingsley
12. (192) Garret Anderson LF-dropped him 'cause I think he sucks.
13. (193) Kazuo Matsui 2B-dropped for having a pain in the ass
14. (224) Rocco Baldelli CF-I could not believe he was autodrafted in the first place
15. (225) Melky Cabrera LF,CF-dropped him because he sucks
16. (256) Bengie Molina C 17. (257) Ty Wigginton 1B,2B,3B,LF 18. (288) Jack Cust LF,RF-dropped him because I THINK he sucks
19. (289) Henry Owens RP-haha, dropped him immediately
20. (320) Boof Bonser SP,RP-dropped early and picked up Mark Buerhle
21. (321) Scot Shields RP-this guy caused me a ton of pain. Finally dropped him.
22. (352) Matt Guerrier RP-dropped immediately.  Picked up Ervin Santana.
23. (353) Phil Dumatrait SP,RP-who is he?  Dropped immediately
24. (384) Felipe Paulino SP0never heard of him.  Dropped immediately.
25. (385) Álex González SS-had a broken leg.  Dropped immediately.
26. (416) Brandon Wood 3B,SS-dropped.  Ironically, picked him up last week.
27. (417) Augie Ojeda 2B,3B,SS-haha, dropped him immediately.
28. (448) Ehren Wassermann RP-holy shit, who are these guys.  Dropo del sucko.
29. (449) Joey Devine RP-good kid who I dropped when he got hurt.
30. (480) Shawn Hill SP-dropped pretty quickly.

I was fortunate to pull a new lineup out of my ass.  Jay Bruce, Evan Longoria, Dioner Navarro, Cody Ross, Mike Cameron all came off the waiver wire.  Traded for Adam Laroche at one point.  Picked up Liriano out of the scrap heap.  Scott Baker too.  I got lucky with a bunch of these guys.  I just cannot believe I made it to the finals given this trainwreck of an autodraft.
Thank you god for hooking me up the rest of the way!

I didn't do much with my position players. Picked up Mike Fontenot and that's about it. I rummaged the through the smoldering pile for pitching though, especially when Dustin McGowan went down. I nabbed the rejected Wellemeyer, who had himself a nice season, the mercurial Dave Bush, ran with fat Scott Eyre for a bit, and even Sean Gallagher. Pretty motley crew.

I say we do live draft next year.

I was surprised at how you jumped out in front for the ERA/WHIP over my staff. It's coming back in line where I thought.
I've conceded holds and figured I'd just go for ERA/WHIP and Saves help in the last week.  That's why I benched Latroy Hawkins and picked up David Price.

I cannot believe we only have 2 triples between us in almost 2 weeks.

Both our lineups spend one day looking awesome and the next like shit.  Neither is consistent in the least.

My waiver wire jujitsu is not strong enough. I'll cue up You Got the Silver by the Rolling Stones when this one's over.

I am looking forward to this weekend being behind us.  No football from the Giants and waiting for something screwy to happen to my lead, which is decreasing daily.
