If the mods agree, maybe they could sticky this, and anytime a sports related person gets in trouble with the law those posts can be consolidated and discussed here.

Nice to see Marshawn hasn't learned that motor vehicles can be dangerous objects.

Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch was seen weaving from lane to lane on Interstate 880 in the Oakland, Calif., area on Saturday morning, leading to his arrest for investigation of DUI.

An incident report released by the California Highway Patrol on Tuesday described Lynch driving a Ford Econoline van and having two near collisions with two other vehicles driving in adjacent lanes.

SportsNation: NFL's Discipline Problem?
The NFL has suffered a spate of high-profile arrests as of late. Does the league have a discipline problem? Comment and vote!

Authorities say Lynch was pulled over around 3:20 a.m. PT Saturday in Emeryville and showed signs of intoxication. After multiple field sobriety tests, Lynch was arrested and booked into jail, where he was cited and later released. Lynch took a chemical test.

Teresa Drenick, director of communications for the Alameda County district attorney's office, said Lynch was scheduled for an Aug. 14 preliminary court appearance and that any decision on charging Lynch will be made by then.

Drenick said the office has yet to receive the police report from the CHP.

The Seahawks said in a statement late Monday that the team is "aware of the situation with Marshawn and still gathering information."

Lynch's agent didn't immediately respond to calls from The Associated Press seeking comment.

Lynch signed a four-year contract in March that will keep him in a Seattle uniform for the prime of his NFL career. The contract is worth $31 million, including a guaranteed $18 million. Lynch rushed for 1,204 yards and 12 touchdowns last season.

Lynch
Lynch came to Seattle during the 2010 season in a trade with Buffalo and after his career with the Bills stalled. Lynch ran into problems off the field in Buffalo, but stayed clear of trouble with the Seahawks until now.

He pleaded guilty in March 2009 to a misdemeanor gun charge in Los Angeles. He was sentenced to 80 hours of community service and three years' probation, and was suspended three games by the league for violating the NFL personal conduct policy.

That was Lynch's second run-in with the law following a hit-and run-accident in Buffalo in May 2008. In the earlier incident, he pleaded guilty to a traffic violation and admitted to driving away after striking a woman with his car near Buffalo's downtown bar district.

Hitting a woman is always less than manly, but hitting your mother is on a whole other level of lowliness.

Dallas Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant was arrested Monday after allegedly assaulting his mother, Angela, on Saturday, according to DeSoto, Texas, police captain Ron Smith.

I heard Mama Bryant was badmouthing Tony Romo and Dez finally snapped.

But isn't his mother a prostitute? He was probably just pimp slapping her to get her back to work.

Rams DE Robert Quinn arrested for DWI

NFL players have been making headlines recently and not for the right reasons.

St. Louis Rams DE Robert Quinn has joined that list after it was reported that he was arrested on July 10 at 6:44 a.m. for driving while intoxicated in Florissant, Mo. He posted bond and was released later that night, according to KSDK.com.

In addition to the drunken-driving charge, Quinn is charged with failure to exercise a high degree of care, and with having no insurance.

Quinn was drafted with the No. 14 pick last season after attending the University of North Carolina. He had 23 tackles and five sacks during his rookie campaign.

The Rams have issued the following statement:

"The Rams and the NFL office are aware of the situation regarding Robert Quinn. We take such matters very seriously, and we will act accordingly once the legal process plays out."

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch and Tampa Bay Buccaneers CB Eric Wright have been arrested this month as well for the same crime.

On June 13, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell  sent out a memo regarding the recent surge of DUIs around the league, warning the players of the consequences of their actions.

Report: Kenny Britt arrested for DUI
Posted by Josh Alper on July 20, 2012, 11:28 AM EDT

Another day, another NFL player arrested for driving under the influence.

According to Nashville radio station 104.5 The Zone, Titans wide receiver Kenny Britt has been arrested for DUI. Details on the arrest are still developing outside of the fact that it took place in Fort Campbell, an army base which is on the line between Kentucky and Tennessee. According to the report, Britt and teammate Tommie Campbell were bringing a female soldier back to the base when guards at the gate stopped the vehicle.

If true, this isn’t Britt’s first brush with the law. He had three bouts of legal trouble in 2011 for charges ranging from theft-by-deception to leading police on a car chase and resisting arrest. That led to a meeting with Commissioner Roger Goodell that did not achieve its goal of scaring Britt straight if the radio report is true. He wasn’t suspended because the incidents came during the lockout, but Britt’s record dates back beyond that — seven previous arrests altogether — something that’s sure to impact a decision about punishment from the league.

Britt has spent this offseason rehabbing the ACL and MCL he tore in his right knee early last season. Britt has had two surgeries on that knee and recently had one on his other knee. His recovery from those surgeries was a big concern for the Titans this offseason and now it appears we can add a possible suspension to that list.

Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch and Rams defensive end Robert Quinn have also recently been arrested on charges of driving drunk.

UPDATED: Via Paul Kuharsky of ESPN.com, the Titans have issued the usual boilerplate team statement in light of the report. “We are aware of the situation and are in the process of gathering more facts.”

Report: Chiefs cornerback Donald Washington arrested
Posted by Mike Florio on July 20, 2012, 8:42 PM EDT

For 32 NFL teams, training camps can’t open soon enough.

Yet another player has been arrested, again for drunk driving.  According to 97.9 XFM in Effingham, Illinois, Chiefs cornerback Donald Washington was arrested there on Thursday.

Stopped on I-70 for speeding on Thursday afternoon, an Illinois State Police trooper detected the odor of marijuana.  He found a small quantity in a backpack in the trunk.

He was charged with driving under the influence of drugs, unlawful possession of marijuana, speeding and driving on a suspended license.

Bond was set at a whopping $20,000.  Washington reportedly is due in court on August 23.

Washington, who played college football at Ohio State, is entering his fourth NFL season.  He appeared in 12 games with three starts in 2011 and 12 games with two starts in 2010.

It amazes me how much NFL players are to stupid to take advantage of the free rides every team offers them if go out and get drunk

When I was in the Navy, my ship had it set up with 2 cab companies in San Diego that anyone could call them and get a free ride back to the ship, and the command would pay for the ride and then the person would reimburse the ship on the next payday

One of the Detroit Lions got arrested for the second time this offseason

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/lions-berry-arrested-again-pennsylvania-162834768--nfl.html

DETROIT (AP) -- Detroit Lions cornerback Aaron Berry has been arrested in Pennsylvania for the second time this offseason.
Cpl. Kyle Gautsch of the Harrisburg Police Department says Berry was taken into custody early Saturday morning on three charges of simple assault. Gautsch says there ''was a weapon allegedly brandished during the incident''
Berry, who is from Harrisburg, was also arrested in that area June 23 on suspicion of DUI, failure to stop and render aid from an accident and other counts.
The Lions released a statement Sunday saying they're disappointed by the reports of Berry's second arrest and are currently gathering information.

The Lions cut Aaron Berry earlier today for his latest transgression.

Maybe because, technically...that isn't a free ride.

But even the Commissioner has stated several times that teams offer FREE rides if needed and they want athletes to use them.  To me, by the way many seem to drive drunk, they think they are to good to ride in a plain old common taxi like a lowly peon.

Cardinals defensive end sued for assault
Posted by Mike Florio on July 27, 2012, 10:41 AM EDT

A lawsuit for assault has been filed in Michigan. The good news is that it doesn’t involve any member of the Lions.

Cardinals defensive end Ronald Talley, a Detroit native, has been sued this week for allegedly smashing a champagne bottle over the head of 30-year-old Robert Ford on March 26, according to the Detroit News.  The alleged injuries include glass shards piercing Ford’s skull.  He needed 13 staples to close the wound.

The lawsuit, which joins as defendants the recently-closed bar where the incident occurred and five bouncers, claims that Talley was visibly intoxicated, but that he was still being served alcohol.

Ford claims that the bouncers dragged him out of the bar, where he was “left to die in the alley.”

The bar in question closed “voluntarily” on July 16, after a shooting.

Talley, an undrafted free agent in 2010, appeared in six games last season. He played college football at Delaware.
