I just saw some footage of Lars Anderson, and he was wrestling in the IWA under his real name of Larry Heinemi.  I did not know he began wrestling in 1965!  I thought he was younger than that.   What did you think of him?

Yeah he debuted in the AWA way back in 1965. He was a Verne Gagne trainee. My first exposure to him was as Lars Anderson in the early 70s when he teamed with Larry Hennig. Then later he teamed with Buddy Wolff in the AWA after he changed his name back to Heiniemi. Heiniemi & Wolff had a great feud with Wahoo McDaniel even creating Wahoo Is A Loser tee shirts.

The only footage I have of Lars is his time in Hawaii in the 80's. He was on Bruiser Brody's side against The Sheik, Kevin Sullivan and Mark Lewin.

He did better away from Ole and Gene than with them.  I don't speak of the original Anderson team in the 1960's but of any of his NWA team ups.  Next to guys like Ole and Gene, Lars came off really flat.

On his own or with other guys (Buddy Wolfe especially) he came off much better.  By the time he was booking Polynesian Pro, he was just about done as a wrestler.

He ran a small promotion in northern Minnesota up as far as Thunder Bay back around 79-80-81-ish. It was called "World League Wrestling". Decent low-end wrestling. the live shows were pretty good, too.

early 1980's in Ohio he told Lord Zoltan (who was  Zoltan teh Great and billed from Finland then) that he made Finnish people look like queers and if he had a knife he would stab him.  Zoltan said if he had a gun he'd shoot him first.

What was the deal with him using the "Anderson" name?

Was he on especially good terms with "Ole & Gene" or was it the other away around ?(some guy trying to use "their" name and they didn't like it)

Gene was the first Anderson. Heiniemi then became Lars Anderson. Gene and Lars were the first version of the Minnesota Wrecking Crew. Ole (Alan Rogowski) was the third Anderson brother.

What?  I do not understand this.

Thanks claw, I did not know that bit of history related to the Andersons.  I always thought Gene and Ole were the original duo and then Lars came onto the scene.

Old Lord Z. was not exactly the most macho guy when he performed in the ring.  Lars/Larry got his Depends all twisted.

Larry/Lars wrestled under both names in the AWA. I thought he was o.k.. He did most of his work in tag teams. He had a good look for a wrestler of his day. He was a very good heel in the ring, but I thought sometimes on the mic, he would lose his train of thought.

He went to school at St. Cloud U. in Minnesota. He wrestled and was captain of the football team his senior year. In the conference wrestling tournament he didn't place, but a few months later he moved up in weight and took 3rd place in the national AAU tournament.

Larry debut in August of 1965 and one of his first matches was against a soon to be brother, Gene Anderson.

Nov. 13, 1965 Minneapolis

Larry Heiniemi pinned Gene Anderson (Match between the Anderson brothers)

Zoltan was doing a bit of a gay gimmick at the time wore a dress into the ring threw flowers at the crowd.  Lars thought he was making Finnish people look gay.  Just because he was billed from Helsinki, Finland.

Shortly afterward Zoltan was billed from the Bermuda Triangle

Now that's a great gimmick. That's the first wrestler I've heard of that billed himself from the Triangle. I wonder, was he the only person to do this?
