DVDVR discussion with juicy info starts here: http://board.deathvalleydriver.com/index.php?s=&showtopic=42859&view=findpost&p=887101

I don't have my copy yet (I blame Media Mail) but from talking to those who have it and reading those posts, it sounds incredible, with tons of previously unreleased information that borders on scary at times. Through the grapevine, I've heard that there's a bunch of NJPW dojo stuff (including a detailed passage about Hiromitsu Gompei's death as well Benoit being tortured and then going on to torture others when he became an estabished star), the truth about Dave Lagana's firing, Dean Malenko feeding Eddy Guerrero drugs, and a bunch of other fucked up material. I'll post a full review after I read it.

Anyone here get it yet?

That's enough of a preview to make me want to read it.  Please let us know how it is once you get it.

I just read the book. If you enjoyed Chris Jericho's book, you'll really like the first half of Ring Of Hell because Benoit and Jericho's careers mirror each other. The first half of the book is excellent. The second half of the book requires a leap of faith to believe what is written. I'm not saying what's written isn't true but the sources aren't exactly air tight. You have ex WWFE writers with axes to grind. You have quotes from shoot interviews with known bullshitters.

If you are into the New Japan Junior scene from Benoit and Liger's era, get the book. If you want to read some whacked out Inoki and Choshu stories, get the book. If you want insight into Eddie Guerrero, get the book. If you need to know how nuts Kevin Sullivan was, get the book. There are many more reasons to read the book despite the author's at times uppity tone. But like I said before, there's quite a bit of supposition in the portion of the book dealing with Benoit's time in WCW and WWFE.

Overall a thumbs up.

Some of the statements made in the book come off a bit too matter-of-fact, but overall I enjoyed it.  It was a compelling read for me.  It also gave me pause to consider if there is anything about the business that I really love anymore.  Whatever fantasies that I still had about there being some nobility in the business were shattered by the book.
