My grandmother was holding up fairly well on that schedule because she would still be well for at least 10 days in a row, but when they had to increase it to every week she couldn't handle it. This provides a lot of recovery time from the sickness and still allows you to live your life normally at least 2/3 of the time.

Then I go back Wednesday to have the port a cath put in. Then back on Thursday for blood work, to see the doc again, and then start chemo. He said chemo would last 2 1/2 hours. Not sure if it will be that everytime or if it will be longer, I forgot to ask that question on Thursday when I seen him. But they seem to think that chemo will take care of it, no surgery needed. There is a slight chance that I might have to take some radiation at the end of chemo to take care of anything left behind from the chemo. But we won't know that until we see how well it responds to the chemo. Thursday will be my first chemo treatment so I really don't know what to expect. I am just glad we are gonna beat it.

The Hammer wrote:freebirdsforever2001 wrote:The Hammer wrote: Find out if the Port is a " power port" They are the best in design and the easiest to maintain. The Echo test is to see if Your Heart can take the Chemo, the same for the Lung Test. The Chemo is ABVD if it's 2 1/2 hours per session and it's most likely, every 2 weeks. Also a very important thing is to make sure that before They give You the Chemo, is that They give You Nausea medicine for Your stomach. That usually takes 15-25 minutes and is part of Your procedure. Also diet is very important, I was given a cook book on meals my wife could make me and if I can find it, I'll send it to Grog and He can give it to You. Also something that my wife just mentioned to me, is that You get tired of different foods and drinks really quickly. Something that You like this treatment, you most likely won't like by the next treatment. Never stock up on alot of foods and drinks. Last edited on Sat Nov 3rd, 2012 10:39 pm by |
