What about the Big Red Machine of 75-76?

Tony Perez, Joe Morgan, Dave Concepcion, Pete Rose, George Foster, Ceasar Geronimo, Ken Griffey, Johnny Bench were the starting 9, and managed by Sparky Anderson.

Hitting fielding they were outstanding but the pitching wasn't as.good as the position players.

I think we have a winner. Thinking about it, you're not going to find another team in any sport as great as that one.

Yes. That's the winner.

I'm also casting my vote with the '77 Habs (and I'm a Leafs fan).  The stats are so overwhelming.  They scored the most goals in the league and allowed the fewest, outscoring opponents by an average of 2.7 goals a game.  Although they had the league's best player in Guy Lafleur, they were hardly being led by one man.  In total, 10 different players had 50+ points.  The big three on defense, Robinson, Lapointe, and Savard, along with goalie Ken Dryden, were fairly impregnable.  Their home record was an astounding 33-1-6.  They only lost one time in 40 home games!  The NBA often has teams with lopsided home records, but the '77 Habs did something that will never, ever be approached in the NHL.

On top of the Stanley Cup, and all the statistics, the team took home just about every major piece of hardware that year: Hart, Ross, Smythe, Vezina, Norris, Adams.

They went through the English Premier League (one of the top soccer leagues in the world) without a loss (26 wins and 12 ties), won the prestigious UEFA League title, and made it to the semi finals of the FA Cup. Their goal differential was almost 3-1 (73 scored vs. 26 allowed). To me, that is almost total domination.

Considering the extraordinary level of competition in that league (a lot of the world's best players play for English clubs) I agree. There's probably a good case to be made for the dominant Manchester United teams of a few years before too.

No.  Not with Barcelona in recent years raping the Spanish league - a league which has clubs good enough to win European trophies.

Fair enough, I'm only going on my old memories of them winning seemingly everything for a few years, and don't watch anything like as much as I used to.
