Can anybody give a summation on this guy?

Type of wrestler?

Did he change his ring persona throughout his career?

Started off as the generic, face. Turned into a generic chicken-shit heel. Became famous in New York with his "brother" Donnie. Much of their stuff was appropriated by the Graham Bros after the Fargos finished with Vince, Sr.

When the Fargos came to Gulus in TN, Fargo decided he wanted to homestead. Became the perrenial face there and eventually (because of his longevity) became the King of Memphis. At that point he split with his manager Jack Pfeffer, and became a Memphis institution.

His style changed to match the tastes of the Memphis crowd. He kept the Fargo strut, but became basically a punch and kick guy. Jerry Lawler's style today is more or less what Fargo did through his entire Memphis run. Fargo became a part of the community and eventually phased out his in-ring career so that he could focus on his many businesses in Tennessee.

He was good to pop a house whenever they needed an "enforcer" type as a special referee at the Mid South Coliseum.

Was he the blonde adonis type like the Grahams?  I thought I remember in mags where was also a biker type guy.

The Fargo strut......did he originate that or was it Rogers?  Or, is that still a debatable issue?

I remember Greg Valentine performing as Johnny Fargo?  Did he ever actually work with Jackie or was it just Donnie?

In New York he was a blonde adonis.  As he aged, he simply became a pudgy brawler.

He was trained by Rogers at Al Haft's promotion in Ohio, so I would make a guess that he appropriated the strut from Rogers.

Jackie worked with Don and Roughhouse (Jackie's actual brother, Sonny- a Crockett referee).

Don worked with Johnny (Greg) and managed other "Fargos"  (Pat Rose immediately springs to mind.

You name it-he did it.  He had a paint/sign store when he first met Lawler.  He ran some restaurants and bars and did construction for awhile as well.

Donnie Fargo is the biker. There's a story where he got the Hell's Angelswere angry that he was pretending to be a member. Apparently, he's a pretty wild character, even by rasslin standards, and even tried to work real Hell's Angels. According to the story I heard, they were none too pleased when they found out he was full of shit.

Is it me or does wrestling seem to sometimes have homo-erotic overtones?

I remember Don having a swastika tattoo on AWA TV. I was surprised they didn't make him hide it.
