My pick is El Gigante. He received a series of title matches against Ric Flair. I want De Belt Flair. I want De Belt.

I don't know for sure, but I feel like David Flair had to have main evented a Nitro or two during the angle with Ric.

No argument with your selection, but I think the word "wrestler" in the question  clears Leno

Gulas and Zeus are really good answers.

Gigante and Rick Steiner vs. The Hardliners in a cage was a 1991 main event in Milwaukee I was sorry to see. The match was done for comedy as Slater and Murdoch could do little from a strategic standpoint with the bout ending mercifully after only about 6 minutes.  Probably a nice guy, but horribly featured as a headliner.

Khali and Loch Ness certainly fit the bill.

George Gulas is the only non freak show guy named so far.

Loch Ness wasn't in that match. He faced The Giant on that show. It's sad that I remember that, but for some reason, I do.

Later,
Nate

Loch Ness did main event as Giant Haystacks in England against Big Daddy. Both guys were terrible but Big Daddy in particular was a national icon.

Before I clicked on the thread, I was going to throw Hillbilly Jim's name up. You guys beat me. Loch Ness, Gigante, Zeus, Khali...all good choices.
