Joe Louis did it a TON in the Carolinas. Even did a few shots working with one glove on vs the heel of note.

Dempsey drew good crowds here earlier also.

Dempsey, Walcott, Archie Moore, all did it but Louis seemed to be the most frequent in the Carolinas.

In the early 80s Earnie Shavers did some guest ref tours for JCP

Archie Moore did it once or twice in SF

Didn't Joe Frazier ref a Rhodes and Flair match?

I would like to add "Two-Ton" Tony Galento to the list that NC James provided for Jim Crockett Promotions.I saw Joe Louis numerous times in Winston-Salem and Greensboro in the sixties and seventies.Only got to see Archie Moore and Ernie Shavers once each in Greensboro.

Cleveland Williams (once fought Ali in the Astrodome) reffed a Gino Hernandez/Jose Lothario match in Houston in the late 70s.
