One of my very favorites as well. Saw him once and was amazed at how he melded "Cortez the Killer" into "Harvest Moon". Can play almost any style of music exceptionally well.

He is definitely in my Top 3.  Still wins the "Ugliest Man In Rock & Roll" contest each year.

Lemmy and David Crosby have something to say about that.

True. He's done it all-Rock, Bluegrass, Country, Folk, Techno, he's always evolving. One of my favorites as well. Probably seen him 15 times. Love his music, not a fan of his politics.

Really wish he had done some actual songs instead of just jamming for 90 minutes when I saw him live, but his finale of an extended version of "Rockin' in the Free World" with the Foo Fighters was worth it I guess.

The thing about Neil Young though is that he really couldn't care less what any of us think about what he does. It can be pretty funny when he does it to record companies who expect things from him. It can be pretty exasperating when you show up expecting him to play his "hits". He's gonna do whatever and you just have to be willing to accept it.

I agree with you on Neil, but never heard a Bob or Van song I didn't like either. If nothing else Van Morrison is THE model of consistency as he continues to churn out the same album with every new release year after year.  Beyond his collaboration with John Lee Hooker, The Chieftans and a romp with Lonnie Donnegan his body of body of work has varied very little in the last 35-40 years.

It was never released on CD, but Time Fades Away is one of my favorite albums.
