We all know how these "retirements" go, but Motley Crue will be announcing their retirement tour today at 3:00 PM. Basically all details have already leaked except exact dates. It'll be called the "R.I.P. Farewell Tour" and Alice Cooper will open. Crue will be performing on Jimmy Kimmel tonight after the announcement. Crue is just about the only major '80s band that I somehow haven't seen live yet, so I'll definitely be going to this. They have all their original members and can still go, so it should be a good tour. Not sure how long the retirement will really last though since everyone except Mick Mars probably has a few more years left in them if they want.

I've seen them quite a bit and Nikki, Mick and Tommy can still go and go strong, but Vince's voice is beyond shot. If you don't know the lyrics, you will have no idea what he is shouting. And he only shouts about half the lyrics and skips the other half as he is always winded.

Vince played here last wednesday. I didn't go but a close friend met up with us after the show and echoed the "Vince's voice is shot" sentiment. Said it was really, really bad. Vince played for an hour, then gave the band the throat-slash and they ended the show without an encore. I would assume Crue will be better than that.

He doesn't play long, and just goes through the motions of doing Crue songs with a cover band. One of my friends told me that karaoke is more fun.

I never saw Crue, I did see Vince solo about 10-15 years ago, and he was already singing half half a song then too. His solo show was mostly Crue songs, but that's pretty much the case with any singer doing a solo tour, so it didn't bug me. I saw Steven Pearcy last week, and was bored when he was doing his non-Ratt material. I'll wait to see them on the 2016 reunion tour. Last edited on Tue Jan 28th, 2014 09:33 pm by bart |

I saw them back in '89 on the Dr. Feelgood tour, they were hella fun. The last time I saw tix for them available, it was upwards of $200. I'd love to see them one last time, but I just can't justify that price.

Just play shit from "Killers" and STFU. Last edited on Tue Jan 28th, 2014 09:51 pm by srossi ____________________ This thread was great before AA ruined it. |

Ditto on seeing Crue & Vince's voice being shot. I did see a later concert vid & they had him singing over recorded tracks.

First saw them in 85 at MSG and again on the Dr. Feelgood tour. Saw Vince solo when I lived in Vegas around 97 or 98. I'm going to hit this when they are in Austin in July, because I doubt they will make it all the way until October when they are in Houston.

This is a very ambitious schedule for these guys with almost no days off. That's just crazy. A band half their age would be worn out by September.

Looking at the schedule, there's a 6-week break in September/October, so they're doing 2 months straight, then 1 month straight. Saw them when they toured with KISS, I can confirm Vince's half-assed vocals.

The problem is getting to September. They should have at least 1 night off between every show, 2 nights on occasion, to save Vince's vice, not to mention the rest of them ain't spring chickens either. That's the type of schedule Sabbath is going with, and most of the other older bands. Back-to-back nights are killers. Also, this isn't it. They're going to take another 6 week break and then do the international part of the tour starting January 2015, but those dates aren't set in stone yet. But once they're done, they're done for good (unless they settle on breaking this contract) - " Motley Crüe have signed a contract that will permanently dissolve the legendary rock group after one last tour. With the announcement of their second farewell tour in less than a decade, the rockers vowed that this time, once and for all, they are calling it quits.
