AWA battle royal date is actually June 10 and featured the Blackwell beat down and face turn.

I'm too lazy to go back and look at every post in this thread to see if it's been discussed already, but April 1992 is when they  officially changed it from Superstars of Wrestling to just Superstars because some other promoter claimed ownership of that trademark and sued them. They'd have to do a lot of work editing if they were going to start from the very beginning in 1986

Wow that is terrible.  I really want Superstars of Wrestling 1986-1992.

With you on that.  I'd love to someday get clean, awesome copies of  Superstars from 1986 and 1987, but by 1992 the show and wrestling in general was on a downswing.  Not as hyped for this.

Brian Black is maybe better known as JBL's favorite network representative, Palmer Canon. The Velocity Hidden Gem is apparently going to be the complete episode. This was in the wwe.com exclusive era, maybe explaining the short run time.

It's funny how some indy guys develop a rep and then absolutely drop off the face of the earth without ever making it.  Jamin Olivencia was one of those guys that I heard a bit about 10 years ago and then...nothing.  Not even ROH.

Reading Justin Roberts' autobiography now and he doesn't go into details on the Palmer Canon situation, but he does talk in-depth about his own bullying at the hands of JBL and it's just really amazing that so late into WWE going corporate he was still allowed to do that shit and keep a job, and is still brought back occasionally to this day after the Mauro Ranallo stuff.  JBL really is one of the biggest pieces of shit in wrestling history, and that covers a lot of ground considering the murders, rapists, and pedos he's in competition with.  He's right there though.

The battle royal was being broadcast almost immediately after it happened due to the Blackwell beatdown. There was a card in st Paul on 7/15/84, so I'm guessing it was just a labelling issue of some sort.

I’m really an AWA guy at heart.  It’s the Wrestling I was introduced to when I became a fan.  The last couple of minutes of the battle royal and the subsequent beat down is arguably the greatest AWA angle of all time.  When Blackwell dumps the charging Brody over the rope, the place kinda erupts.

Just wondering if the first three months of this show are in the hobby and in decent shape - I'm sure they'll go forward from 12/5/92 when they make the next upload. Not sure they will upload past when Raw debuts, but would be nice to get a full year of something for a change.

I just got a free 3 month deal. It's been either the 3rd or 4th time having the network. Will have to poke around a bit.

Good nostalgia with Superstars, even though like everyone I hope the naming rights get back so they can air the earlier ones. I always remembered Berzerker and Undertaker and the sword incident.
