I subscribe to an "AWA Fans" group on Facebook. This pic popped up today with people commenting that it led to Milwaukee's version of "The Ice Bowl" [Mad Dog vs The Crusher]

Don't know anything about their feud but the pic (look at the crowd) is unbelievable. They ran this TV match live on a Sunday afternoon?

Is that a woman or a man 2nd from left? Either way, she/he is hideous.

It was actually a tag team match pitting Mad Dog Vachon & Butcher Vachon against Edouard Carpentier & Bruce Kirk. Crusher had been "injured" several months before by the Vachons. The run in during the tag bout was his TV return. The bout should be on youtube.

This match was on WWE Classics on Demand. Mad Dog bladed too deep, hit an artery, and just was gushing blood to the point that they couldn't control it and he was rushed to the hospital. I have the match somewhere.

Saw that match on Youtube. Gruesome indeed, especially for the time.

I think he was blading when he took that kick to the head from Crusher on the floor and it drove the blade in too deep.

khawk has it right; Dog was blading when Crusher stomped on his head and the blade went in deep. In Milwaukee, this aired on Saturday between 5-6 p.m. with the show being repeated the following morning at 11 a.m. It was so gruesome for the time that the station that carried it (Channel 18) blacked out the Sunday version. It was audio only. Talk about red making green. This was the greatest feud in AWA history and their cage matches around the horn drew record crowds practically everywhere they were held.

Looks like Crusher never lost the cigar through the whole thing.

It would have dropped out of John Cena's mouth about 15 seconds in. Sports entertainers today are girly men.

Re: The crowd.... I love the woman in the back row with the child on her lap doing the Nelson-style point and laugh. "Haa-ha!"

Also impressed by the man at right with a sweater and tie combo complete with some local ale house logo.
