The rules.  There are 10 clues regarding a ballplayer from the past.  Players may ask questions to help them toward their goal of guessing the player in under 10 clues.  The answer to those questions will be given at the judge's (me) discretion - you'll catch on as to what that means soon enough.  The number of clues given before a correct guess corresponds to the amount of points awarded on a 10=1, 9=2, etc. scale.

There is only one winner per round and only one player receives points each round.  Winner at the end of the month receives a classic baseball game on video from the Big J Sports Library.

Current leader is JB5 with 7 points!

THE FIRST CLUE:

1. Oakland

Was this player born in Oakland?  If not, did he die in Oakland?

Well done.  The 5th clue was posted just before yours, so alas, you only receive 6 points for the correct answer.

New standings
7 - JB5
6 - dogfacedgremlin

And the clues, with explanations...good job on the correct spelling.

Chris Cannizzaro

1. Oakland (Born in Oakland)

2. Daddy (Padre)

3. Original (Original member of both the Padres and Mets)

4.  Amateur Free Agent (Signed by the St. Louis Cardinals as an amateur free agent in 1956.)

5. Six (Played for six teams)

6. Only right once (1 game in RF career, 1962)

7. Metropolitans (Original member of the Mets)

8. All-Star (Padres All Star rep in 1969)

9. Doesn't need Nytol (has enough Z's)

Also I notice I gypped JB5 a point.  He answered after 3 clues, which gives him 8 points, not 7.
