Wow, hard to believe it's been 15 years. I remember I was working late that night and showed up at my buddies house after the PPV started and they were all flipping out saying Owen died. I figured it was just part of the show or they were exaggerating and I didn't realize the severity until JR made the announcement.

That horrible Jesse Ventura movie was on one of the networks that night and I watched it.  At the end, they did the teaser for the 11:00 PM local news, and it was "TRAGEDY IN THE RING!" or something like that, which made the anchorwoman have an orgasm on TV because she couldn't believe the good fortune of being able to announce something like that during the one time ever that they were airing a wrestling-related movie.  So I actually found out about that one old school, by watching the news.  Maybe the last time the 11:00 PM news ever broke a story for anyone.

I saw the announcement in the "news and notes" section of the LA Times the day following under a heading which read something like "Wrestler dies in fall". I immediately thought it was Mick Foley and, after reading the story, was sad it was Owen.

I skipped that one for whatever reason. Might have gone fishing for the weekend given the time frame.

A few of us were considering going to the show since I was now living in KC, but we never got around to going thankfully. It was all over the KC Star the next day though

Was watching the PPV live with a group of friends. The Globe & Mail newspaper in Canada put a picutre of Owen in today's paper, and addressed this being the 15th anniversary of his death.

My kid was a baby, so he was sleeping and I didn't have sound on.  They went to the tight shot of the table and King Lawler was pale as a ghost...I knew something was wrong, so I listened for a minute.  Thought nothing of it, then got the paper out of the box the next morning on my way to work and immediately got sick.  I will never forget that feeling.

Saw it that night on the ticker on The Score channel. I remember thinking  that they were freaking idiots and that it was just part of the show. It wasn't until the next morning when I read the paper that I realized that it was all too real.

Bret Hart and Jeff Jarrett remember Owen on the 15th anniversary of his death.

I decided not to purchase the PPV and was watching a baseball game. A friend called me. My first reaction was that it was a work. He swore it wasn't. I flipped to CNN and they were already reporting on it. Just unreal.
