As a big fan of the 1973 film I hope the TV series doesn't screw it up.

from insidetv.ew.com:

Ed Harris is coming to series TV. The Abyss and Apollo 13 actor has signed on as the Big Bad in HBO’s Westworld reboot.

The four-time Oscar nominee’s character is called The Man in Black, and is described as “the distillation of pure villainy into one man.” He joins previously cast star — and fellow series television newcomer—Anthony Hopkins, along with Evan Rachel Wood, Jeffrey Wright, and Shannon Woodward.

The Warner Bros.-produced sci-fi pilot produced by J.J Abrams, Jerry Weintraub, and Bryan Burk updates Michael Crichton’s 1973 classic film about a theme park where androids fulfill dark human desires. Harris’ description might sound like he’s playing the Yul Brynner killer-cowboy robot role, but it seems like actor Rodrigo Santoro was tapped for that part—and online production rumors suggest The Man in Black is actually a human character who sadistically abuses the androids.

Harris will soon be seen the feature film Run All Night, starring opposite Liam Neeson and Joel Kinnaman. Harris won a Golden Globe and was nominated for an Emmy for his work in HBO’s Game Change.

HBO + Ed Harris. It'll be just fine.

Well it took almost one full year but HBO has finally released the first trailer for the Westworld TV series:

To be honest - that trailer does nothing to make me want to watch this series.

This.  I can't think of a single series HBO turned out which was bad from jump.  On the other the other hand, many of them are my favorites of all time.  And yes, Ed Harris, assuming he is in the Yul Brenner role, should totally rule.

Unfortunately The Brink is a huge fail despite a good cast, but I've been watching anyway since it's only 25 minutes of my life.  But very disappointing.

Anyone besides me watching this? This show is freakin brilliant. Last night's episode may be the best of the bunch and IMO could stand alone on it's own, it was so well done..

I love Game of Thrones for the whole epic story and everything but as far as overall quality goes Westworld is the best show on HBO right now..

I told my wife last year watching the season 1 finale, Ed Harris should win an Emmy just for this ONE LOOK he gave at the end of episode 10:

I won't spoil the show for anyone but the entire season 1 built up to this and that look Harris gave just summed it up..it was perfect..

I watch it and really like it. I thought this season started slow and was somewhat confusing. The last 3 episodes before last night's (which I haven't seen yet) were very good. This is a show that makes you think as well.

Yeah, it took 2 episodes into this season for me to realize what they are driving at, the different time period stuff is a bit confusing.
Last night's episode was one of those "stand alone" episodes where it basically concentrated on one character but damn, they did it SO perfect..
