I read in another thread that is going to be demolished.

I am not wrestling historian so I have no idea of most of the venues in regards to title changes and such.  Did anything spectacular ever occur at the Spectrum?

Best card at the Spectrum?  Opinions?

Magnificent Muraco beat Pedro Morales for the I-C title in June of 1981 at the Spectrum.

Kal Rudman and the Moondogs interview is the best thing to ever come out of the Philly Spectrum IMO.
(the Backlund/Slaughter cage match was pretty good too).:)

The Billy Graham/Sammartino 3 peat which spanned from late '77 till early '78 with Bruno chasing the title were off the charts for crowd intensity. These matches were the first Spectrum sellouts ever. The cage match blowoff was an absolute work of art. Bruno kicking the shit out of Superstar and the crowd going completely rabid for what they think is going to be a title change. Then when Bruno goes to give Billy one last kick, he kicks him too hard and Graham goes right through the door out of the ring for the victory. Best screwjob finish ever.

Ditto. The priceless part is that it takes a few seconds for the crowd to register what just occured. There is a momentary pause and then you can see people screaming at ringside. I have watched this match as many times as any other I have. Just great stuff, both are at their best as far as pulling in the crowd. Feb 1978, just a couple of days before Backlund took the strap.

there's a kal interview with muraco that goes about 3 minutes or so and it seems that muraco is just saying stuff just to see what kind of reaction he will get from rudman. it just seemed like a running joke with the boys. god i miss prism t.v.:(

backlund vs hogan was great. slaughter/mystery partner vs. shieky/volkoff in a bunkhouse style match. it was sold out and when the junkyard dog came out with slaughter, the roof almost blew off. i don't think that jyd was even on t.v. yet, so it came off as a huge surprise.

Some more Sheiky Spectrum matches that were classics include his title defense against Santana. This may have been his only successful "A" stop title defense. A great back and forth match with Sheiky selling like crazy for Tito and the crowd loving every minute of it. Another GREAT one was Sheiky's first late '84 Spectrum title shot against Hogan. This match is actually in my personal top 20 of all time. Double juice, even Hogan was working his ass off. Great stuff.
