It was the Angelic Assassin notching the win last round.

The way this all works is it works just like the football version of the same game. You come here , you find the current "Survivor" thread and you tell us what team will not lose today [they must win] If you are right, you continue onward. If your team loses you sit out until the next "new series" [thread] begins.

An individual team can be picked by multiple players however once you have picked a team you cannot go back to them and take them again until the next new series [thread] is started.

I would be missing the boat if I didn't point out that "double A" now has the year-to-date standings lead (tips cap)

Turkey Day-for you amerks anyways

No guts-no glory

The Oilers can't lose every game.

Edmonton Oilers

And if the NHL is going to have a game billed as a Thanksgiving Showdown why on God's green earth is it not scheduled on Thanksgiving?  Talking about Rangers-Flyers which of course is scheduled for..........tomorrow!

Tough pick here. 33 points vs 31 points & both have a diff of + 11.

Detroit, only because they're the home team. But even that is a questionable factor.

Detroit is 8-2-2 at home & Vancouver is 9-3-0 on the road.
In their last 10 games, both teams are 7-2-1.

Well it's no fun if we all pick the same team, so I guess I am going with Vancouver, even though I wanted to pick Detroit.

Pittsburgh won 1-0 so it's all up to San Jose now. If San Jose wins I'm pretty sure this will be the first time one of these NHL rounds will go into a 2nd week.

San Jose scored the GWG with just 12 seconds left in the 3rd period so this round has now officially entered the 2nd week of play.

Here's a list of who we've picked already.

CanadianHorseman: Pittsburgh, Nashville, Boston, NY Rangers, Detroit, Arizona and San Jose

lobo316: Chicago, Nashville, St. Louis, Tampa Bay, Detroit, Montreal and Pittsburgh

Well we both squeaked by tonight. Sooner or later one of us will run out of eligible teams to pick.

What's the rule if/when this eventually happens? At some point this or another run is going to end up at a night where there's one game and both teams have already been picked given the sillyness of the staggering in the NHL Schedule this year.

My guess is that if you run out of teams, you lose.  You have to look ahead at the schedule & not pick a team that will be avl on a night when there are only 1 or 2 games.

I dunno, the NHL schedule is often fucked up with singular games on a night in between two where everyone else playing. In this scenario it would suck for one or both of you to be eliminated because you've picked 8 or 9 right in a row and then run into one of those nights.

Like if you pick Pitt in the first game and the Rangers the next night, then 10 days later you're still going and their the only matchup that night, you shouldn't be eliminated because you've gone on a run like that. Forecasting is necessary but that seems extreme to me.

Just my opinion, of course.

Good point, but the onus is on you to plan ahead at least that's how i think beej would see it).
For example, last night I wanted to pick the Peg, but on Friday there are only 3 games & the Jets are playing that night. If I make it that far, I can pick Winnipeg.

We haven't had it yet where everyone left bit the dust because they ran out of teams so my kneejerk reaction to the question is that if on an upcoming Wednesday night there is only one game you need to be aware of this when making Monday and Tuesday's picks.

This actually happened to me last year when khawk and I were the last ones still going after about 5 or 6 nights. Finally we got to a night where there was only 1 game and I had already picked both teams.

Do you remember if you were allowed to pick one of them again or not? I don't.

I understand what Beej is saying, my thought only really relates to an epic run...like this one between CH and lobo might turn into. Only a few nights? Plan ahead, obviously.

Anyhow I'm fine with things, just thought it was something to discuss now that the first big streak-game of the season is going on.

Nope. I think we just skipped that night and started a new round the next day.

EDIT - By doing a little digging I found out that we actually had 1 NHL round go 13 days from Wednesday December 11 - 2013 to Monday December 23rd - 2013. Hopefully history does not repeat itself as both clawmaster and lobo316 picked losing teams on the 23rd. lobo316 did win an NBA round by once picking 12 straight winners though.

That's win # 12 for me - 6 for the NHL, 4 for MLB and 2 for the NBA.
