So the Cowboys outpenalized Detroit 2-1 on that play. The unsportsmanlike conduct penalty only applies to players who remove their helmets, while participating in the current play. Dez obviously wasn't participating in the play, thus there was no penalty called. It was a stupid move on his part, but it wasn't a penalty. There should have either been no flags tossed on that play, or flags on both players, which would have resulted in off-setting penalties, and the Lions, who had only managed to score 3 points in the second half, would have been forced to punt anyway.

The NFL really needs to stop breaking up the official teams for the playoffs, though, and rank them as teams going into the post season so they can continue to work together. There shouldn't be communication issues in games this important, there just shouldn't. The main stream media today was acting like that one call in Dallas was the only one this weekend that was controversial. Did none of them watch the Arizona v Carolina game? The officiating in that game was horrific, and it wasn't just one call, it was calls the entire game.

Ok am I the only one that things Dallas got hosed on the Dez Bryant 'catch' call?

Catch was made. Three steps and a reach with the ball in full possession. Ball came out when hitting the ground on the reach. Catch. No fumble. Ground can't cause a fumble - right?

It's amazing what a mental midget Manning turns into once the playoffs start...

By rule, the ground cannot cause a fumble, but it can cause an incompletion. And by rule, those weren't steps, as steps constitute a "football move". Say the rule is dumb and/or needs to be changed, but by rule the correct call was ultimately made.

He has enough pure talent, and is usually surrounded by a lot of other talent, that he does occasionally win some big games, but that doesn't make him a winner. He comes up small too often to say that about him.

He has one more playoff win in Denver than Tim Tebow has. He's not getting any younger, time to maybe sit him down and tell him it's been real but..

Be real, they'll never sit him. The most they can do is try to talk him into retiring, but I doubt they'll even do that. The ball's in Manning's court.

The rule is fucked up but the call was correct in terms of how the rule was written. Same as that one a few years ago caught in the end zone for a winning TD, made no sense then, makes no sense now.

I didn't see the game but the talk after was there were othe moments that Dallas failed to capitalize on during that game as well. If that's true, then that one play getting all the attention might deflect the usual Romo criticisms (and whoever else), which would be a nice break for him.

Manning looked terrible. Wobbly passes, passes overshooting or undershooting receivers. It'll be interesting to see if he comes back one more time. Apparently his idea earlier in the year was to come back but that isn't a sure thing anymore according to him, basedon conversations he had with folks before the game.

Catch by Bryant but I think GB Still wins. Dsllas defense wasn't doing a good job stopping them after that play.

Hit Manning early and you get the performance you saw yesterday. 9 one and done for Manning.
