WWE Hall of Famer Jimmy Snuka will not go on trial as scheduled on 3/22 in regard to the involuntary manslaughter and third-degree murder charges in the death of his then-girlfriend Nancy Argentino in Allentown, PA in 1983.

During a hearing today in Lehigh Valley, PA, Snuka's defense attorney Robert J. Kirwan claimed that he was not mentally competent to stand trial. The court ordered Snuka be tested on his mental competence and that his trial is canceled until the results of the testing are determined.

Snuka's attorney claimed that he initially believed Snuka had a diminished mental capacity due to the side effects of his battle with stomach cancer but has since realized that Snuka has little understanding of what is happening to him, why he is being represented and claimed no memory of Argentino's death. Snuka's attorney also claimed he tested positive for signs of dementia in 2010 and that he has been unable to have any real conversation with Snuka about the case.

Charles Gallagher, the District Attorney prosecuting Snuka argued tho the court has had a career as an entertainer, alleging he was acting a part, leading to the Judge to order testing.

The competency hearing, with experts from both sides weighing in on Snuka, will take place on 3/18. Should Snuka be found mentally competent, the trial will be put back on the docket for a later date. If he is not found competent, it's unknown what the next step might be.

Thanks for the update. I have had a casual interest in this case throughout the years.

Lol at Snuka, werker to the bitter end.

Too many coconut shots to the head has led to this. Where's Nowitski & his medical studies to back this up?

To be fair, Snuka's base level intelligence wasn't much to begin with.  With his age, track record with drugs, and the stress of dealing with cancer (along with the pain-killer drugs) I wouldn't be surprised if he's actually unfit for trial.

The courts have to be fair to the accused, otherwise the justice system doesn't work. If Snuka is found to be unfit for trial at least partially because of his age/bout with cancer and the whole thing gets tossed out, the justice system has no one to blame but themselves. This whole matter should have been decided back in 1983. Why they opened it up again more than 30 years later without any new evidence, is ridiculous. They had, or should have had, everything back then.

The people on trial should be the cops who were bought off in 1983. Clearly it's too late to bring Snuka to justice. I have no doubt he's mentally incompetent. Drudging this up after more than 30 years is crazy, especially if you're going to sweep under the rug the reason it wasn't pursued originally.

Agree.
What is the use of this trial now?
Waste of time and money.

I'll need them to delay it so I can have my ideal Turkey day dinner with the Annoi family.  I always wanted to eat that dinner with Afa, Sika, the Rock, etc.....as it would be way too fucking funny.  "Hey Afa, can you pass the rolls please?".  "Hey Superfly, how about passing the stuffing, dammit?" Ah, it was funnier when I though of it while drinking..........

I prefer that time that WM ended with Chris Benoit celebrating in the ring with his wife and son. But then I'm new school.

It's just a given that jungle savages may kill some of our women. Why can't the courts understand that?

Because they didn't listen to the good Col. DeBeers.
