By the way, it is silly they give these winter snowstorms 'names'.

Originally forecast at 8-12 inches here, now up to 12-16 inches. U sually when the forecast 'increases' you can bendover Rover. You're gonna get it.

It's more silly when we're supposed to be intimidated by the long-lost Jonas Brother.

That's the Weather Channel for you. capitalizing on the public's predisposition to name everything.  Everybody remembers such and such storm/blizzard like the storm we had here in 86.

So the Weather Channel since 2012 I think decided to capitalize on that and get free publicity and at the same time increase their viewership as no other news organization is really going to using the winter storm names that the Weather Channel comes up with for each year and sends out a list to news organizations well in advance.

More commonly news outlets refer to these storms simply as nor'easters.

the South Jersey shore is absolutely flooded. High tide is almost a foot higher then it was for Super storm Sandy.

Went into work at 9 PM. Took an hour and a half to get there. (usually takes half an hour)

Went to leave at 5 AM. Snowed in until a plow came along. WOW.

We got a light dusting last night in north Atlanta.  My family in NJ texted me an hour ago and there's at least a foot on the ground.

We have at least 9 to 13 " on the ground currently. It's suppose to snow until early Sunday Morning.

I'm about 12 miles from the Virginia border in northern NC. We ended up with about 7 inches, which is alot for us. We're used to 2 inches or less. My county was extremely lucky...no power outages last I heard. But we got mostly snow with some sleet mixed in. Down in Raleigh/Durham they got freezing rain so they had over 100,000 folks without power.

We got the car out of the driveway today, but had to park across the street when we came back.

Ended up with around 15 inches. Was hoping for 20" plus in our area of the Woods.

NASA is preparing to announce that January, 2016 was the most "snow-free" month on the east coast since records have been kept.
