This seemed like a really weak year. Not a whole lot stood out. I actually liked the avocado commercial from the future the most. When an avocado commercial is the best, you know most companies missed the boat. I guess the Prius car chase commercials were my next favorite, at least I remember the brand the next day. The Marilyn Monrow-Willem Dafoe Snickers ad was a cute take on their campaign, but not as good as last year's "Brady Bunch"-Danny Trejo ad. The weiner dogs in the Heinz ad was cute and felt like a real Super Bowl ad at least. Kevin Hart's Kia commercial was such a hackneyed comedic idea, pretty much every bad sitcom ever squeezed into 30 seconds, and glorified tracking someone, which seems tone deaf for the times. Did anyone need to hear Helen Mirra lecturing drunk drivers for what seemed like an eternity during a Super Bowl? That one to me gave off the dead kid vibe like last year. And then Budwesier had the other weird commercial where they said they're "not for everyone". which was bizarre because that's exactly what they are, for mass consumption by people who don't like or can't afford real beer. What happened to the Clydesdales and puppies? Just awful. Their most effective commercial was from Peyton anyway, who crammed in the fact that he was going to drink some Budweiser after the game 15 times in post-game interviews, but if I played as poorly as him I'd want to get drunk too. Speaking of last year's dead kid ad, this year someone came up with the bright idea to kill off a dad and have his son miss him dying by gawking at a hot nurse. Um...... Liam Neeson and Christopher Walken were wasted in whatever ads they appeared in, I can't even remember so they weren't very effective. And the obligatory Steve Harvey ad for I think T-Mobile was an idea that was so obviously going to be used but could've been executed so much better. Terrible game, mostly terrible commercials. The only one I kinda liked was the Steven Tyler Skittles commercial, which almost everyone else hated. Nothing else really stood out, and as rossi noted, it seemed that many (esp. Kevin Hart) were trying way, way too hard.

I liked the Doritos dog commercial and the car ad that had a Van Halen song in it, I don't remember any of the rest..

I don't know about you guys, but my mind was blown by that one commercial. Can't quite place the product but it had an animal in it. And the animal acted human. And it even spoke! Oh man, what a knee slapper that one was.

The panel of viewers of USA Today's Ad Meter, who are selected strategically by researchers to provide a cross section of the total population, selected the Kevin Hart commercial for KIA as the best spot during the game. It broke a fourteen year win streak of Anheuser-Busch winning for one of its brands. The USA Today Ad Meter goes all the way back to January of 1989 when the winning ad was Visa spot featuring Dana Carvey and Jon Lovitz.

I saw the one yesterday with the dad teasing the fetus with the Doritos until he threw it away and it jettisoned the kid out of her poon to get it. That was kinda funny. Made me think of the werkers throwing the Doritos into the hallway to distract Percy so they could shoot up without him knowing.
