Then it disappeared around thanksgiving and showed up on Christmas morning
That is awesome!!!  If that happened to me, I'd still be laughing about it to this day.  My parents wouldn't buy me any video game systems, really couldn't afford it at the time.  My brother and I saved money to buy the Atari 2600 which cost about $150 at the time, which was I think 1981.  We broke both controllers slamming them on the ground probably a thousand times each, and we were experts at rebuilding them to the point that my brother even built a wooden case to put the broken guts into so that we wouldn't break them anymore.  I had to do the same thing when NES came out, saving a summers' worth of lawn money to buy it, but by the time Sega started, I had a job and could just buy them if I felt like it.

What got me was that right up until the XBox 360/PS2 era, pretty much all of the games were like $150 new, just like the 2600 was all those years earlier.  When Sega Saturn came out for $300, it was a huge deal.  My boss, who was my uncle, bought one for his grandson.  Santa happened to buy him a PS1, so my uncle just left it in the car.  The day after Christmas he told me to take it back to Toys R Us for a refund...which, even though I was getting paid, I did NOT like the idea of Toys R Us the day after Christmas because it's a zoo.  So I just didn't go.  He got pissed and told me to take it back, and I asked him if we could do a trade where I worked 3 weekends in a row and he gave the Saturn to me.  He jumped at that, and told me I could take it home right then and there.  My friend and I played the shit out of that Saturn, I was playing it probably up until 2001 when my ex wife got me a PS2 for Christmas.

The WWF Hasbro ring

Man, the matches I booked in that ring. Hogan was the champ most the time, but then Ric Flair showed up as did AWA Remco Road Warrior Hawk.

You worked hard to get the Star Wars figures - I had two of them.  It seemed like there was always five new ones coming out every week...when I realized that there was no way I could get a set, I just stopped.  A friend of mine was like you, got them all, even had a Star Wars case to put them in.

My parents sent in on a mail order advertisement and got me some posed rebellion troop looking guys from the snow scenes from the empire strikes back and an emperor action figure. Or maybe a relative sent them, I don't totally remember.

Christmas '82 or '83, the year Masters of the Universe first appeared, my Dad hunted all the stores finding me and my brother the toys.
And my favorite Santa Claus present of all time, Castle Grayskull.
Christmas '86 I got the WWF LJN ring and some figures.
