Aaron Judge's solo shot to lead off the sixth inning was a big factor in chasing Toronto Blue Jays starter Marcus Stroman out of the game, but the New York Yankees rookie wasn't finished there, hitting a two-run shot in his next at-bat in the seventh inning:

Judge's second of the game was also the 48th of the season, putting him within one of tying the rookie record set by Mark McGwire in 1987.

In the first half of the season, the 25-year-old outfielder blasted 30 home runs before celebrating his first All-Star festivities by winning the Home Run Derby on Giancarlo Stanton's turf. Interestingly, McGwire outpaced that by mashing 33 in the first half of his rookie campaign, but hit 16 the rest of the way.

He did it !!!!!!!!!

Sorry, Big Mac: Court is in session.

Aaron Judge hit the 50th home run of his rookie campaign Monday in a two-dinger outing that allowed the New York Yankees outfielder to officially take the record from Mark McGwire.

Many have stepped to the plate. None have hit 50 homers as a rookie.

Until now. #AllRise pic.twitter.com/CnWnnPRBQY

Judge tied McGwire, who hit 49 back in 1987, with his fourth-inning blast off of Kansas City Royals starter Jake Junis. The 25-year-old followed that up in the seventh with the record-setting bomb off of Trevor Cahill. It's the seventh multi-homer game of Judge's historic 2017 season.

Winning American League Rookie of the Year is a foregone conclusion, but 13 home runs in September may help Judge to an AL MVP victory as well.

Hat is off to him. Slumped but then came out the slump. The real deal.

The Yankees are so far ahead of schedule with the production of Judge and Sanchez this season, and now Bird is having the first healthy month of his injury-plagued short career and is killing it too.  Those 3 could be the backbone of an offense that dominates for the next decade.

People want to nitpick their every short-coming, but none of these guys were supposed to be this good for another year or two.  Of course Judge needs to cut down on the Ks and Sanchez needs to solve his passed ball problem and Bird needs to stay healthy, but Jesus Christ, this is a pretty damn good start considering they all have less than 2 full seasons  in the big leagues.  Coming off of last season, I never imagined we'd be in the postseason this year.  I was hoping for a last place finish and a top draft pick to continue the rebuilding.

You should live in Philly.  Carson Wentz has the thrill of being 2-1 including 2-0 against division opponents and the agony of hearing that he sucks on our wonderful sports talk radio.
