David Rhymer, who wrestled as Wicked, has passed away.  I never heard of him but we have a mutual friend who lives in North Carolina and has announced this on his Facebook.  Wicked competed all around the Carolinas and was the booker, as well as the former champion, for SWA (Southern Wrestling Association).  I believe he had been diagnosed with MS back in March, but I don't know if that had anything to do with his death.  Maybe GWLee or someone else from the area knows of him.

I knew him but not very well, he promoted and wrestled in the Shelby,NC and Forest City, NC area and we have several mutual friends.

My very first match I ever reffed away from my "home" fed in fact was he and his wife Marybeth, in a tag match against another 2 fairly well known guys in the area, and he made me feel quite comfortable in a tense environment, so for that I will always remember his kindness.

I know a lot of folks who knew and respected him, he leaves behind 2 young children as well, this is a tragedy that just really sucks all the way around.

RUTHERFORDTON, NC (FOX Carolina) -
Troopers said a Cowpens man died after crashing into a creek in Rutherford County Monday morning.

The crash happened on Luckadoo Hill Extension, also known as NC Highway 120.

Troopers said 37-year-old David Shannon Rhymer was traveling south when he ran off the road, traveled through the woods and overturned into an area of a creek where waist-deep water pools. Troopers said other areas of the creek are much shallower.

Troopers said Rhymer died in the vehicle.

Speed did not appear to be a factor in the crash and troopers said an autopsy will be performed to determine if Rhymer was impaired.

A dive team from Henderson County was called to Rutherford County to remove the vehicle from the water, according to Sheriff Chris Francis.
