Pro Wrestling Sheet is reporting that WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair was admitted to the ICU for heart-related issues by his family. The initial cause for concern isn't exactly clear. The family states that they're doing it for "routine monitoring".

A representative for Flair posted the following on social media:

“Yes, Ric is checked into a hospital for some routine monitoring.  No, there is no reason to panic.”

Adding, “Yes, we’d like to thank his fiancé & the incredible hospital staff who are providing the best care.  No, we cannot answer any personal questions. Yes, Ric would want you to go out and have a great weekend … Nature Boy style!”

Pretty sure having a great weekend Nature Boy style is why Flair has a heart condition. I would recommend everyone eat a salad and save their money this weekend.

Yeah, the drinking until 4am and running around on three hours sleep has to catch up. Dude looks like he's aged 30 years in the past ten. Get well soon, Natch.

As Dave Scherer wrote earlier this morning, concern over the health of WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair, 68, magnified when Melinda Morris Zanoni, who heads up Flair's management firm Legacy Talent, took to Twitter asking for prayers to assist with Flair's health.

Flair is currently hospitalized in Atlanta, GA, where he resides. The belief is that Flair is dealing with heart-related issues, which were initially described as simply "routine tests." Since Zanoni's Tweet, there has been an insane amount of activity among those in the pro wrestling industry with different stories about Flair's health being passed around.

Since there is no confirmation on any of that information, we won't report any of it. What we do know, based on what was written in Flair's own autobiography To Be The Man, the former NWA and WWF champion suffers from Alcoholic cardiomyopathy, a condition caused by excessive, prolounged alcohol abuse that can lead to heart failure. When one suffers from that condition, the toxic effects of alcohol on the heart's muscle leads to a situation where the organ is unable to pump blood efficiently.

It goes without saying that Flair, when he was wrestling, was one of the greatest performers in the history of pro wrestling and is at the top of any list when you rate professional wrestlers - work ethic in the ring, level of matches, promos, characters - whatever the discussion is, Ric Flair is there in the mix because he's a once in a lifetime performer who had an immeasurable amount of passion for what he did. He also carried himself in life the same way his character does on TV, with caution thrown to the wind.

As Dave Scherer wrote earlier, everyone at PWInsider.com sends Flair our best wishes and we all hope for the best.

You don't get admitted to the ICU for routine tests. He might have had a procedure and was then admitted to ICU for close observation. That makes more sense but there's been no mention of a procedure.

Well that doesn't sound good at all.

I need to know what Juanita's reports is. I won't believe any of this until I hear from her.

TMZ reports that Flair has been put in a medically-induced coma and will shortly undergo emergency surgery, although the nature of that surgery has not been revealed.

PWinsider reports that they heard he was put in the coma early this morning but chose not to report it out of respect for his privacy, so this is not a new development.

Charlotte will not be on Raw tonight as she has already flown to Atlanta to be with her father.

TMZ reported this as of 4:45 PM (ET):

Flair is out of surgery and resting, a rep for WWE tells TMZ Sports.  Unclear how the surgery went but we're told Ric's family is by his side and they're waiting to meet with doctors.

C'mon Naitch, kick out at two. Thinks and Feels.

Seriously, there's no way this guy is going to die. People who put their bodies to such extreme abuse and live into their mid to late 60's are basically bulletproof. All the major medical journals say so. Look it up it if you don't believe me.

One would hope that Flair takes this as a wake up call to change his lifestyle.

Sadly, I do not see that happening.
