I live in Chester County, PA.  There are 9 positions called row offices that are elected. Never has a Democrat, going back to the 17th Century (before the party even existed)won an election for any of these positions.  Last night, the Democrats the 4 that were up. Treasurer, Auditor, Coroner and something else that I forget now.  In the last cycle these positions were up, the R's won by an average of 17%.
Donald Trump elected them.   Will he tweet congratulations?

No more than he did the VA governor's race, in which his guy Gillespie lost bigly. He then tweeted out that it was because Gillespie didn't support him or his agenda enough.

Bus rolls right over...

Well, he deleted his past tweets supporting Luther Strange when he lost. Further, at a rally the week before FOR Luther Strange, he said he may have made a mistake supporting said Luther Strange.

Those are not the actions of a rational person.

DeBlasio won a landslide against Malliotakis in the NYC mayoral race despite no one here liking him at all.  The bottom line was no one would vote for a Trump supporter.  DeBlasio becomes the first Democrat to win re-election here since Ed Koch.

I have to think that this much of a swing in the other direction, should the Dems continue to roll as Trumps reign moves onward, isn't a good thing either.

Gonna get some real twats elected out of spite. Probably already has.

I find this whole thing pretty strange down here. I'm about as Centrist as can be. Financially I'm pretty conservative, but lax on a lot of social issues. Even when living in Canada I would jockey between the old Progressive Conservative Party and Liberal Party depending on the issue or person running. But I never took this shit that seriously where whomever was running for PM I dropped down on my knees and was thankful for winning. It was just another person in charge.

Down here though, it's so much more polarizing. Very much a us vs them attitude on both sides, and people have their noses stuck up the asses of leaders much more, thinking that their lives are better off or worse due to this guy on top specifically. Since I can't vote, I don't tend to invest much in either sides rhetoric, but I do think that Americans hate each other much more than Canadians do when it comes to politics. (Well except supporters of the PQ and BQ....everyone in Canada hates them.)

Having spent a lot of time in Canada, I completely agree. I had Canadians tell me that they followed US politics more than their own. Not that they were ignorant of what was happening in Canada. Far from it.

One of my cousins is a huge political fundraiser out towards Orangeville and I've had the good and bad fortune of meeting a shitload of politicians.  I tend to vote against whoever is in power here.  When the cons are in I vote Liberal and vice-versa - save for Tim Hudak or Kellie Lietch.  I would have voted for ball cancer before voting for either of them.  Leitch is easily one of the more disgusting humans i've ever met, let alone politicians.
