As far as my vote goes, I voted for Savoldi simply because I looked at Funk's entire body of work vs Jumpin' Joe. Nobody else picked up Savoldi after ICW folded, which (even though I think Savoldi was a good worker) tells me that he had his job almost entirely because his dad owned the promotion. Dory was getting regular work decades after his father was dead, and is still regarded as one of the All Time greats. I can definitely see you point of view though. This tourney has a lot of variables to consider. Dory Jr still would have been a wrestler even if his father wasn't the boss of the Amarillo territory. Just look at all the other West Texas State football players that became wrestlers. The question is how big of a star would Dory Jr have been if his last name wasn't Funk. Dory did not have the charisma his brother Terry did but that didn't matter all that much in the era Dory Jr became a star. Many babyface stars of that era lacked charisma. Most babyfaces were soft spoken guys that would get fired up when needed. But the NWA Champion when he was a virtual unknown outside of Texas and St. Louis? I agree Dory should advance over Savoldi but I'm taking the opposing view just to champion Dory's and to a lesser extent Terry's negative as the tourney progesses. In other words, giving you all something to think about in later rounds.
