Wife is heading to NYC for work tomorrow for 9 days. She's staying at a Hilton Garden Inn down near Battery Park, so away from the more popular dining areas. I know she'll hang with her sister who lives in Brooklyn a few of those nights, but any known places down near that area that are decent to eat?

If she has even the slightest appreciation for history, she has to eat at Fraunces Tavern on Pearl Street at least once.  It's one of the oldest restaurants in NYC (as well as a museum).  George Washington had his farewell dinner from the Continental Army here.  And there's nothing wrong with the food, although there are fancier restaurants out there of course.

There is also a Del Frisco's down that way. Had a great meal there once. Most of my time was spent in mid-town.

I chose a place as close as possible.  If she's open to walking a bit, there are a ton of restaurants obviously.  A bit further is the famous Delmonico's steakhouse if she wants something fancier (and yet still historic).  This was the first restaurant to ever have a real menu instead of fixed courses, and the Baked Alaska originated here, although it's no longer at the original location.  It's on Beaver Street now, and although it's not the season for it, she can also see the newly renovated South Street Seaport when she's in the area.

Delmoncio's! That is the one I ate at. Not Del Frisco's.
