Rich Swann is a mess and threatening retirement, if he has not already retired.  He tweeted that he was done after his current slate of bookings, but then no-showed his bookings this week (even though he was backstage for at least one of them but refused to compete).  He did attend an autograph signing that Rob Feinstein was involved in and reportedly had a few break-downs during it, crying with fans a few times.  Some fans went online and expressed their concern over his mental state right now.  This led Feinstein to write a really long piece on Facebook supporting him and saying what a great guy and wrestler he is (and who better than RF to give a character reference?).

In the meantime, he's gotten into some Twitter wars with less supportive fans who are doing what online fans do and knocking him for his problems.  Some have suggested he's embarrassed to appear in front of fans again because of the heat he's getting online.  This has led his wife Su Yung to get on Twitter and defend him, and now she's having fights with trolls too.

He's still booked for House of Hardcore next week but obviously there's no telling if he will actually appear or not.

The whole situation is a mess and I feel like Swann is really being used as a scapegoat.  This was a really minor incident that got blown up and WWE never should've released him over it in the first place.

The WWE overreacted, but I have to think that if Rich Swann had just kept his cool and worked indies for a few months he'd have been quietly brought back once the incident was sufficiently in the past. Now he's slamming that door shut.

I feel bad for the guy.  He comes from a really shitty background and this was his chance, and he wasn't even there long enough to save any money.  It's not like he had a huge indy reputation before this.  He was known, but far from an indy darling.  He benefitted greatly from WWE needing so many bodies for the CWC and then showed some charisma, which was sorely lacking with the rest of the division.  Then it was all gone in record time due to something really stupid that if it had happened any other year except during the time of #MeToo hysteria would've blown over immediately.  He yelled at his wife over work rate in public.  So dumb and senseless.

Of course Swann should've been smarter and just tried to profit off of his recent TV time and Cruiserweight title by jacking up his price on the indies while trying to get back in WWE's good graces, but at the same time you do kinda get the sense that that door closed and Swann knows it.

Why would he quit wrestling? He needs to go back to working the indies and he will get another shot at the WWE. Such a weird response to an issue.

If the WWE door is closed who cares? go work Japan, Mexico and Europe. It’s been said on here a few times by people that know the money side that the 205 guys don’t make shit and could do better on the indies.

He's not handling it well obviously, but he seems to be embarrassed to be in public now after these allegations spread and all the trolls got on him.  At least that's the gist I can gather from the fanfest fiasco.  He kept crying whenever a fan offered their support and he's fearful of what people think of him.  It was a rough day according to first-hand reports.

He is going to have a hard life if he is worried about what others think. He needs to get back to work and keep a low profile if fan fests make him cry.

I hope he gets over it as time passes.  It's a new development in a lot of different ways.  Not everyone is equipped to deal with thousands of hateful comments calling you a wife-beater all of a sudden.  And it's not like he ever had any degree of celebrity before this, other than a few dozen people at the actual arena knowing who he was, so he's never dealt with anything on this level before, positive or negative.

As long as he isn’t headlocking his wife in public in the near future I’m sure this will fade away. He just needs to push thru
