In another effort to raise the profile of the NWA, Billy Corgan announced that NWA champion Nick Aldis will make 20 title defenses in 60 days. in February and March.

One of the first defenses has been announced as being against Tommy Dreamer at the March House of Hardcore show at the ECW Arena.  Rumor has it that they'll also be booking title defenses on shows promoted by CZW, CWFH, and some other indies in an attempt to get some publicity.

The "Ten Pounds of Gold" show will also be tracking the title defenses and following Aldis around as it did with the legendary Tim Storm, whose retirement is being teased.

Meanwhile , it's about 99.9% confirmed that Billy Corgan is going to reunite mostly original lineup of The Smashing Pumpkins this summer, minus bassist D'Arcy Wretzky.  What an exciting time to be Billy Corgan.

I predict some kind of swerve and Aldis won't retain the title somewhere along the line.

Would make sense for him to lose it on the last defense -- you know, exhausted from the schedule

I like the whole thing though. More visibility. Like the cross-promotion stuff also.

Didn't Flair make 80 in 60 days?

It kinda has the Bash 1986 feel to it..... "14 title defenses against 14 different opponents!"...which really didn't happen, but it sounds good.  Then he lost to Dusty near the end.

I’m just trying to understand how Tim Storm is legendary.

Old wrestler = legendary wrestler

Storm was actually smart because he realized old active wrestlers are legendary so instead of getting into wrestling as a young man he waited and entered at an advanced age at which he knew would give him legendary status.

I like the teasing of Tim Storm retiring. Since if he actually did, this would leave Corgan with 2 wrestlers, and 1 of them is a fat slob who is even worse than Storm

Why would he go back to CZW? The last time was a complete disaster.

The wait is over.  The dream match has finally been signed.  As part of the 20 title defenses in 60 days, Nick Aldis will be giving an NWA World title shot to...James Ellsworth!  Because any man with 2 hands can be NWA champion.

The Aldis Crusade with Ten Pounds of Gold kicked off when James Ellsworth was chosen by Austin Idol to face Nick Aldis.  This unlikely challenger is best known for being the valet for Carmella, his matches against Braun Strowman and Becky Lynch, but it’s victories over AJ Styles that brought him to the Aldis Crusade.  The underdog competitor made his nwa debut yesterday at Championship Wrestling From Hollywood as he fit the criteria set forward by Nick Aldis and Austin Idol on who could be the first challenger for the Ten Pounds of Gold
The Aldis Crusade will see the NWA Champion Nick Aldis (or whoever defeats Aldis) go forth to defend the Ten Pounds of Gold over twenty times over the next sixty days.  Reaction to James Ellsworth being chosen has brought a flood of response and opinions on his worth as challenger.  Austin Idol defended the choice stating that Ellsworth’s resume while eclectic does fit the criteria.
The entire match will be available later this week on http://www.YouTube.com/NWA

I'm thinking that this is the year that someone will claim the elusive bonus 10 points for their Future Endeavor Pool pick being released then winning the NWA title.

I`ve never tolerated Aldis this much before. It`s amazing what being near Austin Idol can do for you.

Maybe it's just the tiny ring, but James Ellsworth doesn't know how to run the ropes.
