ICW professional wrestler Joe Hendry has qualified for the 2018 Commonwealth Games and will be representing Team Scotland in the Wrestling category.
The 97kg British Freestyle Amateur Wrestling Champion will be in Australia for a month to compete in the hope of securing a medal for his team.
It is rare to see professional wrestlers, known for their theatrics and impressive move-sets enter the world of amateur wrestling. Hendry is the latest professional wrestler to bridge that gap following in the footsteps of household names like Kurt Angle and Brock Lesnar, who found success in both worlds. Hendry’s funny entrance videos and accompanying music, recorded by the star, makes fans love him.
Speaking after the announcement, Hendry assured everyone it willmusic, recorded by the star, alongside his ring presence and athleticism are part of what be all business come the Commonwealth Games:
“Make no mistake about it, we are proving that professional wrestlers are elite athletes. End of story. I’m doing this for the people I love, my fans and the hard working professional wrestlers who put their bodies on the line up and down the country for your entertainment. Let’s do this!”
