According to The UK Sun, soon-to-be WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg is a rumored name for the 2018 Andre The Giant battle royal. The article notes the following:

"WWE are reportedly considering bringing the legendary Bill Goldberg back to the ring to win the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania."

In regards to why Goldberg would be part of the match, the article notes that "wrestling chiefs want to give the event a huge push to coincide with the release of a HBO documentary on the Eighth Wonder of the World." An article on WWFOldSchool.com added, "WWE officials think they would be able to work on more projects with Bill Simmons (man behind the Andre documentary) & HBO Network if this Andre documentary draws strong viewership."

What a "name" winning this battle royal has to do with the Andre documentary is beyond me. One thing won't impact the other at all. No one is watching ESPN because Goldberg won a battle royal that the typical ESPN viewer doesn't know exists. It's going to do well based on all the reasons you would expect it to: there are a ton of casual fans who eat this shit up, and ESPN has great production values on these projects. And you don't need to sell Simmons on working with WWE in the future, he's already a huge mark.

Personally I think they should let Big Show win it again as a last Hurrah so he can finally retire

We are in the same boat.  That event should belong to Big Show, and now that he's in the best shape of his life (legit) they should really showcase him.  I always wanted them to bring in Shaq for a match but it's obvious that Shaq is too far out of shape to care about it.

Didn't he win it the first year?  If you want to go that route, I'd give it to Mark Henry for his going-away present.
