Wow...so sorry to hear this one. This and the thread about the Apter mags remind me of one of the first magazines I bought in 1972. There was a big article on Paul Jones and it made him seem like the most unbeatable wrestler in the NWA. He came to the Garden in July of 1972 and went over on Jerry Brisco. There's a great match on YouTube with Jones using the name Al Fredricks against an in his prime Ray Stevens from Australia in around 1965.

This one hurts me more than Bruno. Growing up as a kid on Mid Atlantic Paul was a big name. The entire reason I'm involved in the IWC is because around 98 I was internet searching information on Paul and it lead me to the Wrestling Classics site...

I actually loved the Paul Jones Army and his feud with Jimmy Valiant...

He picked a bad day to die as he is obviously overshadowed by Bruno, but Paul Jones was such a big part of Mid-Atlantic and JCP, even though I always like to make fun of how terrible Paul Jones' Army was.  R.I.P.

I saw that match with Stevens around 7 or 8 months ago. Nice little match.

This one definitely hit me harder than Bruno because I grew up in the south. I loved Paul Jones as a babyface, but he was always on fire as a heel. Knew how to get serious heel heat! RIP

RIP - this one got by me. Was a great heel or face. Still remember reading about his turn on Steamboat in Inside Wrestling and being shocked. Never mind that I had never seen either wrestle.

Lol.  I was a young teenager when all of this was playing out in and around MACW.  In some of the footage shown on TV Jones would fall off the apron acting like his back was hurt everytime Steamboat would come over to make a tag.   The crowd was livid.
