CBC, aka Canadian Broadcasting Corp. is arguably the main TV/Radio outlet for Canadian news has the documentary on Sweet Daddy Siki as the top headline today.  I guess it's a slow news day, but still it's pretty cool.

If they change the top headline, here's the link to the documentary.

In Toronto, where we got WWF, Crockett, AWA and Detroit feeds and stars like Bruno, Backlund, Bockwinkel, Flair, Steamboat, Snuka, Hogan, Andre, Abdulahh, Thesz, and just about everyone else, the one name I hear more often than anyone else when I talk about 60s/70s/80s wrestling with regular Toronto folks is always Sweet Daddy Siki.  The guy had a HUGE impact here.

It's only streamable in Canada. No U.S. clearance yet. I worked on it ... in fact, it really only came about because Siki trusted me when I vouched for the people behind it.

That the one that aired a while back in Canada at least? I thought it was excellent.

Siki is indeed mentioned in Canada by the old time fans in the same breath as names that make his seem out of place. I only saw him live very very late in his career, and whatever the "it" was he had was not translatable to me as a younger fan. But that happens. Similar to how a new fan must have seen Verne Gagne during his comebacks and the end of his career if they had not seen him in his prime.

But yeah he is a real name guy when old time wrestling comes up in Canada, for sure.
