Do you take public conversation and just sometimes wonder how our species is not evolved enough to appreciate these wonder toys and inventions we have with iPhones.  It’s crazy.

It should be legal to murder anyone who has more than a 3-minute conversation on public transportation.

Now that we are past the marijuana and sports-betting , that should be next

I don’t even mind a long conversation if it has some consequential benefit to someone. I can deal with a work call or a call to the babysitter or whatever. It’s this shit on the CTA here in Chicago with “well she said this, and fuck him, he was sleeping over there, and I saw what that bitch said on Facebook, I’ll beat her ass, fuck that I don’t want to go over there I have to get drunk, where dat taco stand at over there, etc”. You just hear this nonsense and imagine these incredible fucking technological devices being used for absolute nothing. They say you could fit the computer memory that was on board the early Gemini and Saturn ships inside a thumb drive now, but fuck if we can’t figure out how to make an iPhone useful in 2018.

Cellphones have turned blithering idiots into ignorant blithering idiots.

Remember a few weeks back I posted that I went to the library and was blown away by what I saw?

Here's what I didn't post.

A woman comes up to me and asks if she could use my cellphone. I tell her 'No' as it's my work-phone, its nothing but bad news and customer complaints (I smile)

She presses the issue , so the nice guy inside of me relents, and then hangs her the phone.

After 15 minutes or so I am keeping an eye on the woman. Don't run out the door with it.

After 35-40 minutes I go over to her, tell her that 'I have to go' and take the phone back.

No thank you at all. I look at my call history and she made 12 phone calls in 40 minutes.

Borrow meant (I thought) may I use it once and give it right back. Evidently not.

A call to work to say you’re running late or to check on your kid with the babysitter is fine, and can easily be handled in about 90 seconds. My generous time limit allows double that before the executions begin.

I wouldn't hand my phone to a complete stranger for any reason. People pick their asses, their noses, use a public washroom and not wash their hands - some likely haven't since Clintons first term.
No thanks. Go bug someone else.
Problem is no matter where people are these days, library, restaurant, transit bus they figure they are the only people there.
The last few generations of people have likely had very little in the way of formal upbringing.  Most people can't even spell etiquette.
The only hope is that if these people are ever involved in a guy with a gun situation the shooter shoots the loudest ones.

I agree 100% with this.

It astonishes me how self-unaware many people are on their mobile phones. I once got an entire Union wage negotiation tactic because some numpty was pretty much yelling it down the mouthpiece on a train. And another bloke was so insistent that he was going to get a bargain at a car auction on a batch of Mondeos that I nearly went along to it to jack the price up just to piss him off.

Same thing though with people using laptops in public for work purposes. Total ignorance of data protection law.
