Whether you’ve ever seen this show or not, watch this episode. It’s a “real” full episode of GLOW that they put together, complete with matches, music videos, skits, and commercials that is probably the closest approximation of a real wrestling show that Hollywood has ever produced. It captures the tone of the real GLOW perfectly while being a million times better. You don’t need to know anything except that in “real life” Zoya broke her leg and in this episode they have to write around it to finish the storyline. It’s fucking brilliant.

I couldn't get through that episode, and fast-forwarded. It reminded me of how awful the original GLOW was, and it was such a drastic change of tone from the series which I'd been enjoying, I just couldn't do it.

I "fear" you will have to watch it at some point. If you write about wrestling you will likely come across some people in the future who will say that they only gave wrestling shows a try because they saw that 2X08 episode

Of course it was awful, but it was awful in a wonderfully authentic way. They captured the real GLOW perfectly. Even the stomach punches that missed by a mile where the girls would double over in an exaggerated way. It was spot on, but the writing of the cheesy vignettes were better and more professional. Real writers actually spent a painstaking amount of time watching hours of GLOW and then wrote an episode in the exact same way that was a million times better but just as horribly cheesy. That’s awesome!  You are watching a show about GLOW, so it was nice to see a full episode of what they’re making.

Do I even want to know what was up with the 900 number involving Woody Woodpecker?

I love GLOW. I knew there was a GLOW in the 80's but didn't realize the Net Flix version was based on that.

This season was good, but much less wrestling

Incidentally, Hollywood from the original series has in recent years been fairly prominent in my industry. I dont know her personally, we've chatted a few times and did the obligatory "I'd love to work with you sometime" platitudes but nothing ever has or ever will come of that. Several of my friends have worked with her, however, so if you're into my kind of work and found her hot there's plenty of material out there

I'm not sure how much wrestling you want from a Netflix drama show. The final episode had plenty of wrestling. I certainly don't think more in-ring stuff would have benefited the show at all.

I agree.  The final episode had tons of wrestling and a nice cameo by Chavo Guerrero, Jr., so how much more wrestling could you expect in sitcom that isn't trying to appeal primarily to wrestling fans?  I think they did a great job of making everyone happy and I enjoyed Season 2 more than Season 1.

I'm just glad we got to see the blonde naked this season.

Netflix's series GLOW, based on the original Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling, announced today it has been renewed for a third season:
