Orton has always been a better heel than a face. On SD, he gave Hardy a sound thrashing.

I couldn't tell you one thing that Orton has actually done in almost 10 years, and yet he's almost always positioned as a top guy and will be a WWE HOFer hands down.

I’ve only seen Orton in the last 18 months or so and he is just there. He’s not bad but he isn’t great, some matches are good, some are ok and some are boring but he never does anything terrible.

This beat down took way to long I mean shit after he slammed his head 3 times against the steps he could have been left for dead.

I don't think anyone has ever accused Orton of having bad matches.  He's just the blandest, most forgettable top guy I can ever think of in any company.  "He is just there" is a perfect way to describe him.  At his peak as a heel he was a cut above, but that was a VERY long time ago now.

Randy Orton is very stale. He's been in a position at the top or near the top in the WWE since 2003 or 2004, mainly as a heel. In the past we'd be long past the time when he would have gone elsewhere. Nevermind the territories, in the 1990s, he'd have checked out to WCW for a while or the WWE would have repackaged him in some way. I also get the feeling he's just coasting at this point. His spot is secure and he does enough to get by, but never puts into the next gear to be an elite talent.

Orton is stale partly because he has three strikes with one he worked his way out of and they just don’t trust him enough to make a big deal about him. But also, he has been the same character since 2010 with no real direction. When he handcuffed HHH to the ropes and punted Steph was the last time he mattered.

Why is Orton seemingly immune from anything? He got Kennedy thrown out because of a suplex yet Orton has injured others without any sanction. He basically finished off Barrett's career and nearly killed one of the Singhs.

Cena complained about Kennedy too so when he had both of those guys talking shit about him, that was it. What he did to Singh was so reckless and then he was allowed to use the same spot several more times after that. This is a company that banned the curb stomp even though it never hurt anyone (it’s back now), but let Orton flip people uncontrolled onto tables.

If Orton or Roman we’re to get cut lose from the E at this point do you think either would hit the indies or Japan and evolve or are they are who they are at this point?

I know the E wouldn’t do it, I’m just asking.

Orton would never work indies/Japan.  And he certainly doesn't need the money.  He'd be done.

Roman would probably get over quite well in Japan.  He's not bad at all, it's just a combination of WWE putting him into situations where he looks foolish and shoving him down fans' throats that got him rejected.

If Orton isn’t a threat to go elsewhere they should cut him lose when they bring up the next batch of the NXT talent.

Will never happen in a million years.

And as a side note, I mentioned this late last year, but when I went to my first house show in a decade with Orton having the last match before intermission, he was seen as THE star of the show by the kids. They went crazy for him and he spent 10 minutes signing autographs and taking selfies before going to the back. A.J. Styles closed the show and did the same, but was a distant second in terms of star power. To the non-smarts and kids, he was their Hulk Hogan. No one has a 5 star match on house shows, but Orton goes through the motions and gets treated as the draw as much as anyone can be in this day and age.
