Wondering if people here ever saw The Sheik (Ed Farhat) work in person? It was an experience, especially if you sat anywhere near ringside.
He legitimately scared the hell out of people, and enjoyed doing it.

I saw him at a county fair. He was pretty old by then. I'd put the time frame around 87 or 88.

We were in the from row, but in that era I knew it was all a work & he wasn't going to come after us.

He wrestled S.D. Jones and won by count out when a crooked ref gave S.D. a super fast count.

Because of the crooked ref the announcer called for an immediate tag team rematch. The Sheik tagged with "the Crusher" but not THAT Da Crusher. A fat heel that wrestled earlier. The opponents were Jones and Sabu (as Superstar Terry Snuka."

I think the faces won that one.

H. George Steele, a complete rip off with green tongue and all, wrestle on the under card.

I saw him work a bearman show in Toronto in March of  1986 at St Lawrence Market that also featured a young Sabu working as Terry Essar.

He sucked

1 Angelo Mosca and Angelo Mosca Jr. defeated Karl Krupp and Sweet Daddy Siki

2    The Sheik defeated Ricky Johnson by countout

3    Johnny War Eagle and Terry Essar defeated SuperStar and Jet Starr

4    Farmer Pete defeated Frenchy Lamonte

5    Silver Rose defeated Sheena the Voodoo Queen

6    Tony Newberry defeated Tank Martin

Oh of note, Tony Newberry in the curtain jerker was Geto Mongol from the Mongols tag team of the 70's

That's pretty crazy, Geto and Sabu on one show.  Talk about the past and the future colliding.

Yep.
In 1979-1980 he came to our small Southeastern town 2 times during the dying days of Big Time Wrestling. I was around 13/14 at the time. The cards were held in our local armory and couldn't have seated more that 200 people. I was first row ringside both times. The first time I went with a friend and I started heckling him so he spat a loogie at me which landed between my shoes. Being young and even knowing back then he wouldn't really attack me, I kept up the heckling. After the match he then comes over to where we were sitting and does the Sheik charge at us with those wild eyes. My friend was terrified and jumped back into the second row seats onto a woman. To this day I laugh when thinking about it. The second time several of us went and saw him pull up in a big car then grab his gear and go inside. The funniest thing that happened during this card was this. Remember the spot at the beginning of the match where the heel gets beat up and he comes out the ring and hugs his manager for comfort ? Well one of my friends actually runs over during the hug and hugs both then runs back to his seat very quickly. I was dying laughing. Then you had the cigarette voiced little old lady during The Sheiks match shouting "He's choking ! He's choking ! " Also one of the people who went with us was a few years older and a big guy who wrestled heavyweight in high school. He was a huge Sheik fan. He actually wore a black shirt with SHEIK on the front. Well the Sheik notices him during the matches and actually invited him back to the dressing room. When our friend comes outside he tells us in a startled voice "That guy talks English man !" He then went on to say that The Sheik asked him if he was interested in training to become a wrestler. Nothing came of it and Big Time wrestling was on life support anyway as our local station had stopped airing Sheiks wrestling show and we had just started getting WTCG/WTBS Georgia Championship Wrestling on our cable company.
Fond memories and the best times I ever had at wrestling matches.
