Fairly high profile match from 1979 -- not the title change.

The greatest "scientific" match ever held at MSG. My favorite Backlund defense. Khos was just a phenomenal worker before the injuries caught up with him. Backlund and Sheiky had plenty of matches in St. Louis before this so were well versed with each other. If the rumor is true that Bobby would only drop the strap to a "wrestler", this match is proof positive.

40 years ago, schools did a slightly better job teaching geography and culture. So why did they bill a Farsi-speaking Persian from Iran as an Arabic-speaking Arab? They're bitter enemies.

This.  I've seen this match several times and love it.  Backlund had a good series with Bob Orton, Jr. too.  For the WWF, that was as good as it ever got until the modern era when it comes to really good matches that just weren't punch/kick.

Nov 83 at the Spectrum. Backlund vs Sheik was a great match. Never thought in a million years Sheik would win the title 2 months later.

I was at this match. June 4, 1979. Sheik was billed as Hussein Arab and had won a battle royal earlier in the night to earn the title shot. A decent match between the two IMHO.

Lol at Albano getting a drink tossed at him.
Blassie on a world tour searching for talent. Real reason for his absence?
Hossein Arab in some parts of the country and Iron Sheik in others?
Why no DQ for the chairs. Not announced as no DQ. Was that not a thing back then.
Who was the ref in the ring? And the one sitting on the outside.?
