The other sports have legislation (obviously) -- I dunno. Is there a way to fix it so that the TV cameras don't show it? It would die out much more quickly.

I honestly think that if it's completely ignored, it will go away. Also after all this time, I find it extremely troubling that the vast majority of people don't seem to know the reason behind the kneeling protest. They automatically kneejerk into the players "hating 'Murica" " disrespecting the troops" followed by a meme of some poor fuck who lost his arms and legs to an RPG saying that he would stand for the flag.....if only he could. I really hate people.

Get rid of it by doing it without teams on the field or ignore it.

Take away the exposure and the son of a bitches playing cannot kneel and the son of a bitch in the White House cannot use whine distraction.

Exactly. This is only a "thing" because it was blown way out of proportion by the media right out of the date. The rending of garments and gnashing of teeth was at full steam ahead well before Trump ever said a word about it.

Simplest answer is just don't play the anthem.
How many players know the words.
How many of the fans in attendance.
Most of the people who sing it don't know the words.
And of course it is correct that the vast majority know not why it is an issue.

Trump dumped gas on it.

Don't play the national anthem. Smacks of insecurity to forcefeed it at every opportunity. Save it for the Superbowl.

Hold the teams in the locker rooms during the anthem or mandate everyone has to stand.
90 percent of those kneeling don't know why they're kneeling or who the president was during the Civil War for that matter

Not even during the Super Bowl. Listening to some celebrity try to revive a career by singing the shit out of that dumb song is usually the second worst part of the Super Bowl, behind the Halftime Show.

The NFL should really be more concerned about the shit product on the field. It's barely recognizable as football anymore.

I honestly don't care.

Here's a solution: While the national anthem is playing, put the camera on the performer and the fans, and don't show the players kneeling or not kneeling (I honestly don't care if they do or not in the first place). It's the NFL and the media wanting to make a big issue out of it.

They’re trying to prove a point that it’s their game and they’re not going to give in to these ungrateful players. But with the NFL in the state it’s in now for a variety of reasons, this couldn’t be a stupider fight to pick right now.

They could all be bum fucking each other on the sidelines for all I care.
Make football great again.Fix the product on the field.
Same goes for the Canadian anthem. I love to hear it. But I don't stand in my living room when it's on. If people shut their fucking faces and listen while it's played I really don't care what else they are doing.

A mandate will only cause more and bigger issues.

Nothing has changed since the kneeling started. Not sure what anyone thinks they are actually accomplishing.

Yes, one thing has been accomplished, it has become a distraction issue.

Do nothing. Just don't show it or mention it on TV.

For what it is worth, the anthem is rarely ever on TV for NFL games with the exception of the Super Bowl, the conference championship games, and a few showcase games when a national recording artist gets the gig like on Thanksgiving. A few games had the anthem make TV over the last two years when the controversy got especially heated. The networks haven't shown the anthem on TV with any regularity since the 1970s and any cases afterwards for a few years were due to timing issues in which the announcers were doing pregame stuff and it started while they were talking, necessitating a cessation of the conversation. The anthem has been a stadium only thing for at least 40 years barring those exceptions.

What can be done? Between the NFL botching its handling of this early on, many players kneeling in defiance over being told what they can and cannot do as opposed to the social issues that at least initially motivated Colin Kaepernick, and Trump exploiting the issue for political gain by goading players into protesting in order to wind up his core supporters, the national anthem situation has broken containment to the extent that finding reasonable middle ground is going to be very difficult.

My take is that the NFL policy should mirror what a few teams have done. If you're on the field, then you stand. If you do not wish to stand, you may exit the field to an area out of view and face no repercussions for doing so. A compulsory order for everyone to stand or else isn't going to work. Whatever the ultimate policy is, it needs to be in the CBA by agreement with the NFLPA so there is no debate and no room for people violating the agreement on either side; NFL, owners or players.

Clearly, the other leagues have rules about this. Never see a hockey, baseball or basketball player 'protesting'.

From Adrian Wyllie’s Facebook:

NFL Owners:   These kneeling players are costing us ratings.  We have to do something.

Roger Goodell:  I've got it!  We'll add a rule that makes every defensive play a penalty, and we'll have male cheerleaders in tights high-kicking on the sidelines.

NFL Owners:  Football fans will love that!

Football Fans:  Gay.

NHL has like...maybe 5 non white players and majority are not American. So most of the league doesn't even give a shit about the American Anthem.
